1 Let's go back to our schematic then 2 and see what we've done. 3 So we copied the images to the hard drive. 4 We actually looked at the hard drive 5 through the local side of Lightroom. 6 We did our selection, we gave them flags and stars, 7 and then we organized them. 8 We organized them into two folders, Selects, Rejects. 9 And all of that was happening on the hard drive. 10 We were moving stuff around on the hard drive. 11 We were making folders on the hard drive through Lightroom, 12 through the local side of Lightroom. 13 Then once we had that, 14 we moved our Selects images, our favorite images 15 over to the cloud section of Lightroom. 16 Put them in an album. 17 That album and the images got sent up to the cloud. 18 There's an album in the cloud 19 and all of the full, high resolution images 20 are in the cloud. 21 Those were then immediately sent down, 22 and we saw that they ended up on my iPad. 23 They were also sent down to the Collections area 24 inside of Lightroom as...
a collection, 25 and also put on the hard drive. 26 And we have already shown you where those images go 27 inside of Lightroom Classic. 28 So now we have those images are available on our desktop 29 in Lightroom Classic, on our iPad or our iPhone, 30 and, depending on what your settings are, 31 either as a full resolution file or as a smart preview, 32 and then they're available here on your laptop 33 in the original drive that you put them on, 34 and also in whatever drive you told Lightroom 35 to use for the Originals photos. 36 And if you set up Lightroom on your laptop 37 to not store the original files, 38 it's still here in the original drive. 39 So the copies are still here. 40 They're not inside of Lightroom's target folder, 41 the folder that we set up at the beginning 42 in the preferences. 43 But they are on the cloud, 44 and they are inside of Lightroom Classic 45 on your desktop computer. 46 And, depending on your settings, 47 they are or might not be on your iPad, 48 but they're everywhere you want to be. 49 You can work on them anywhere. 50 And as you work on them, 51 it adjusts all of the other settings, 52 and you can share them from anywhere as well. 53 So I have the ability to go to my iPad here 54 and simply click on the same Share button. 55 So if you're looking at your iPad 56 and you click on the same little Share button right up here 57 in the top right-hand corner. 58 So I have the ability to save to this device, 59 which is gonna put it in the camera roll, 60 or I can share it, meaning I can send it out anywhere. 61 And if I click on that, Share, it opens up the photo 62 and I have the ability to share it to people 63 or to different programs on my device. 64 I can go to the Share button 65 and I can export it as a very specific size to my files, 66 and then share it or copy it down to a disc. 67 I can send it to Photoshop, 68 or I can invite and get a link to a webpage 69 so I can create a webpage straight from my iPad 70 the same way I did on my computer. 71 So all of my sharing options are inside of my phone 72 and on my iPad that are the same as the options I have 73 inside of Lightroom on the laptop. 74 So it is a fantastic way to go to work 75 inside of Lightroom on a laptop. 76 Don't be afraid of using Lightroom as your principle tool, 77 even if you're a Lightroom Classic kind of person. 78 But if you are doing portraits, like this, 79 Lightroom Classic is not all that necessary. 80 Lightroom Classic is more necessary 81 for real high volume work. 82 But if you're doing a portrait on the weekend 83 every once in a while, 84 or you're traveling and doing photography for fun, 85 Lightroom is a great way to go. 86 It's not necessary to use Lightroom Classic all the time. 87 And so this is a very safe way to go. 88 The advantage is that when you get it into Lightroom, 89 it's immediately duplicated and copied and put in the cloud, 90 and it's really a safe place. 91 And it just connects really well to the web 92 and to Lightroom Mobile 93 as well as to another version of Lightroom 94 on a different computer. 95 So if you didn't use Lightroom Classic at all, 96 and you just used Lightroom, 97 you could put it on two different computers 98 and they would perfectly sync together. 99 So there's a lot of safety in that 100 and it's worth investigating 101 and it's worth knowing how to do, 102 regardless of whether you're gonna use it 103 as your central hub. 104 And again, I don't use it as my central hub. 105 I use it as a way of safely storing images 106 when I'm traveling. 107 So if I go somewhere and do a job, 108 I take the laptop or the iPad with me, 109 and as I'm shooting, 110 I will put the images into either device, into Lightroom, 111 and it sends it to the cloud. 112 As soon as I'm on wifi, it sends it to the cloud. 113 And now I have a copy in the cloud 114 just in case something happens to my cards 115 or to the computer or to the iPad, 116 it's also in the cloud. 117 So it's a great way to back things up.
