Lesson Info

Lightroom: Importing Presets and Profiles

1 So one of the things that we talked about 2 in this portion of the workshop 3 is the idea of creating a profile or a preset. 4 And I wanted to make sure that you knew 5 how to import presets and profiles into Lightroom 6 because I'm giving you some. 7 So I'm giving you a set of presets 8 that are AI-driven presets, 9 and then also a set of profiles. 10 So you need to know how to import them. 11 So what you're gonna do in order to import 12 is first go to the preset panel, 13 and you gotta switch to the detailed view 14 in order to do that. 15 So go to the presets. 16 And in presets, next to this plus button 17 is a little triple-dot button. 18 When you click on that, you can either manage your presets, 19 which means you can turn on and off presets, 20 or you can import presets. 21 That's about as simple as it gets. 22 Click on the import presets. It opens up a dialogue box. 23 You go to your desktop where you've downloaded the presets 24 to the desktop, 25 and you're gonna click o...

n Adaptive JP presets. 26 So these are the presets that I'm sharing with you. 27 They're adaptive, meaning that they use AI 28 and they adapt to whatever the image needs. 29 It's really a lot of skin smoothing and background burns 30 and stuff like that. 31 So just have fun playing with it. It's great tools. 32 So click on that. 33 You just click on the ZIP file and hit Import. 34 That's all you have to do. 35 These are zipped. 36 It's a group of them, and they will come in as a group. 37 If you just have one preset, 38 you just click on that one preset and import 'em that way. 39 I already have 'em in here, so I'm not gonna hit Import. 40 But when you hit Import, it's just gonna show up here, 41 and you'll see adaptive presets, 42 and then they'll all be right there. 43 Okay, now, if I want to import a set of profiles, 44 then I need to go to the edit area 45 and go to the profile area. 46 And when I click on Profile, 47 when I click on the profile on that browser, 48 so click on the browser 49 and you get a triple-dot button up here. 50 If I click on that triple-dot button, 51 there's a managed profiles and import profiles. 52 Managed profiles, import profiles. 53 Again, if I click on Manage, 54 it allows me to turn on and off profiles 55 that I already have in there. 56 If I click on the Import Profiles, 57 it gives me a dialogue box. 58 Simply go to the ZIP file again. 59 Artist Profile Collection, click on that. 60 click Import, and it will bring you back here. 61 And you'll find two options. 62 Black and White Pro by Jared Platt 63 and Color Art Pro by Jared Platt. 64 They will be there. 65 Click on those and you'll have all of these options 66 to choose from for your profile. 67 That's it, that's how simple it is 68 to import profiles and presets into Lightroom. 69 And the bonus is if you import them into Lightroom, 70 they will be available on your iPad and on your phone. 71 So Mobile gets its profiles and presets from Lightroom. 72 They get synced to the cloud, 73 and then they get synced everywhere 74 except Lightroom Classic. 75 Lightroom Classic, you've gotta import them 76 into Lightroom Classic on its own. 77 So if you have a set of profiles and presets, 78 they'll work on everything. 79 But putting 'em into Lightroom 80 only gets them to Lightroom Web 81 and to Lightroom Mobile. 82 The only way to get them into Lightroom Classic 83 is by putting them into Lightroom Classic also. 84 So that's how the import process works. 85 I hope you enjoy those presets and profiles. 86 They are really, really quite cool. 87 And lemme know what you think of them.

Jared Platt is the best educator when it comes to explaining how and when to use each program in the Lightroom ecosystem. He knows and explains extremely well the pros, cons, and tricks of using LrC, Lr, & LrMobile together. Most people teach each independently. Jared teaches in depth knowledge of how they interact --amazing!
