Lesson Info

Lightroom Mobile: Selecting Images

1 We have our images, 2 we have an album full of images, 3 and we are going to go through these images and select them. 4 Now, when I click on this image, 5 I have all of my adjustments available 6 on the right-hand side, 7 but when I'm picking images, 8 I don't want to be distracted by all that. 9 I just want to see the images themselves. 10 And so what I'm gonna do 11 is I'm gonna click on this Star Rating option here, 12 and you can see that it got bigger there. 13 And then I'm going to, 14 I'm gonna double tap this, 15 so I'm just gonna tap it, tap it. 16 See, I can add or subtract the information about the images 17 just by double tapping. 18 So now that I've got them like this, 19 if I swipe, I can just swipe through the images 20 and look at them. 21 These are some old ruins in Rome. 22 I found them really interesting 23 because it looked like everybody had a 4x5 camera. 24 So that's pretty fun. 25 See that? 26 They've all got those Speed Graphic 4x5, 27 Polaroid-type cameras.

28 So proof that cameras have existed 29 way, way, way before the 1800s. 30 So I can flip through 'em like this, 31 or I can just click on each one 32 and it'll just go straight to 'em. 33 So if I'm trying to compare two images, 34 instead of swiping like this, 35 it's kind of hard to see the difference 36 between the two of 'em. 37 I can click on this arrow back out here 38 and go back out to the grid 39 and increase the size of the grid 40 so that I can see all of the images side by side. 41 So if I really wanna compare two images, 42 I can compare 'em side by side this way. 43 It's unfortunate that I don't have a bigger grid 44 or a survey mode like Lightroom Classic does, 45 but that's just the way it is. 46 But if I want these to be a little bit bigger, 47 I don't need to see this over here. 48 So I can just go up to the very top here 49 and click on that little, 50 it looks like a monitor. 51 If I click on that, it hides that. 52 So now I'm just looking at images, 53 which is a much better way to look at images. 54 And so I'm kind of scanning through these. 55 I can see 'em a little bit better. 56 This is not too bad, 57 especially if I put on my glasses. 58 I can see these things pretty well just from the grid. 59 So generally speaking, 60 I will pay attention to the images in the grid 61 because I'm not a big fan of swiping like this 62 because it's just distracting. 63 Gotta go back to my star ratings here 64 so that I see the full image 65 and as I scroll through 'em. 66 But if I want to just go back and forth 67 between two images, full size, 68 and I don't want that swiping motion, 69 I can just click on the images in the film strip, 70 and that allows me to go back and forth between them 71 without the swiping motion. 72 So I just go back and forth, back and forth until I find, 73 see, I really like this one here because of this. 74 But let's show you how to select these. 75 So we're gonna go back to the beginning, 76 and I can either look at these images as a grid to select, 77 or I can click on it 78 and I can go into the Star Rating option 79 and look at it here with the film strip below 80 so that I can tap through them like this 81 or swipe through 'em like this. 82 Or if I want full-sized images, 83 if I just single click it like that, 84 oops, like that, 85 then I'm looking at it in full screen and I swipe, 86 and I can select this way. 87 But I'm not gonna see the film strip below. 88 If I need to see the film strip below, 89 just click on it again, 90 it'll open up the film strip. 91 Okay, so those are your different ways that you can select. 92 I'm going to actually go into the full screen mode here, 93 and I'm not gonna choose this one. 94 I am not gonna... 95 Well, this is interesting the way they have this up here. 96 So by swiping up on the right-hand side, 97 I can either select, deselect, or reject. 98 So I just drag up and down 99 until I have the right selection option. 100 And then I move on. 101 Now, this one I really like. 102 I like the fact that I can see these cameras. 103 I can zoom in and make sure the cameras are sharp, 104 and then I'm going to pick it. 105 But then if I swipe on the left-hand side, 106 and usually I'll just hold my iPad like this 107 so that I can do it with my thumbs. 108 So I'm gonna swipe up on the left-hand side, 109 and then I get how many stars I want. 110 So I'm gonna go three stars on that one. 111 And then, oh, I've got a closeup on this one. 112 That one's another three stars as well. 113 And then an even closer one, 114 but I'm just gonna give it a flag. 115 Well, even Jesus had a camera, so. 116 Or I don't know, maybe that's not Jesus. 117 Maybe that's a disciple, 118 but I would think it's Jesus 119 'cause He's got the halo and the cross and stuff. 120 Anyway. 121 This is how I know that photography 122 is a very religious experience. 123 So now I'm gonna go, 124 oh, now I'm here. 125 I've already seen these as a grid, 126 and so I'm just gonna kind of cycle through 'em 127 'cause I'm not a big fan... 128 I like this one 129 'cause I like that shape back there, 130 so I'm gonna pick that one. 131 But then I'm gonna go to this one. 132 That's the one I like. 133 This one gets five stars. 134 That one's okay. 135 This one's not all that interesting. 136 Uh, no.

Jared Platt is the best educator when it comes to explaining how and when to use each program in the Lightroom ecosystem. He knows and explains extremely well the pros, cons, and tricks of using LrC, Lr, & LrMobile together. Most people teach each independently. Jared teaches in depth knowledge of how they interact --amazing!
