Intro to Clean and Lead Tones

Hello, welcome to day eight of the Metal Recording Bootcamp. This is John Browne of Monuments if you didn't know that already. If you were just tuning in now and missed all the awesome stuff we've already done. We're gonna be doing cleans and leads today. I already took the time to set up some record groups. We're gonna be recording all the guitar DI's through that API up there. Basically John is plugged into the little labs, DI. It is going out to an API. And then the front is going into his pod XT, which is going into Virgil's digitally right here as you can see, and that's it. We're just gonna do it to it. So you tell me. (guitar music) Sounds nice, doesn't it? Yes. It's not bad. Sounds great. Yeah. So what are you looking for on this part? What are we doing first? I honestly can't remember. Oh, okay. (laughing) We're gonna need to, quick listen to clean part, I think it's over the chorus. Got it. The first chorus Which is this thing right here. (rock music) Okay...

. Cool. It sounds kind of like probably that clean tone I used. Could be. (laughing)

I'm on lesson 19! Already worth every dollar!!! Priceless insight! I have already incorporated some of the ideas (preproduction common sense stuff that I never thought of, but damn). VERY HAPPY with this course! ALWAYS LEARNING and looking forward to the next 50 (or whatever) lessons!!! Excellent course! GREAT PRODUCER/ENGINEER, GREAT DRUM TECH, and GREAT BAND!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I'm just part way though and I'm blown away by the quality approach Eyal takes to getting the best out of the sessions. I love how well everything is explained and Eyals calm manner is just awesome it really makes you want to listen to the gems of wisdom he offers.

Wow is all I can say. This bootcamp goes in so much depth from tuning drums, setting up guitars, to recording and mixing. I have learned so much by participating in this bootcamp. It has taught me some new recording techniques and signal routing for my mixes. I just want to thank Eyal, Monuments, and Creative Live for taking the time to do this. It has been amazing and I will keep going back to these videos.
