So here we are in the last part of the course where we want to show off some of the methodologies we developed over the years, the ones that were most helpful to us when we were trying to break new grounds. While some people speak about time management as the holy grail of productivity, we think it's energy management. That is the most important part. Did it ever happen to you that you blocked the time to do something fun with your friends or family? But when you actually got around to it, you were completely depleted of energy unable to enjoy it. If so it's a sign you're not managing your energy as well as you should be. So to help you cope here is a quick final list of tips and tactics that you can use number one right? Everything. Any task for the idea that you have that isn't written down takes up space in your brain and it's also at risk of being lost or forgotten. Otherwise you will miscalculate what needs to be done and find yourself stressed and always falling behind or never getting around to doing deep meaningful work, like creating writing thinking, consider color coding your calendar so that you can understand it in a glance, making the high energy items pop out ensuring that you don't overburden yourself. For example, I use red for all of my client engagements so that when I see it in the calendar, it immediately pops out. And for deep work for writing, creating writing reports, it's either blue or green, something a little bit more soothing any day. I see a lot of red in the calendar is a day that's going to require a lot of energy and I prepare myself for it. Now obviously you just focus a huge part of your attention leaks when you have to respond to notifications or when your concentration breaks, because someone tapped you on the shoulder, It can take you up to 20 minutes to regain your focus. So instead of going back and forth all day, fend off distractions by turning on the do not disturb mode on your phone only check emails at certain times of the day and use instant messaging only for urgent matters. Number four is walking in sprints in many cases it's better to focus one day on one task rather than spread it throughout the week. Deep thinking, content creation and even administrative work can be done more effectively when a full day is dedicated to them instead of one hour every single day, Block out long stretches of uninterrupted time to tackle these demanding tasks and get them done more effectively. Number five is delegation understanding, where can you create more time for yourself by delegating work to others. Consider hiring freelancers from around the world so that you can place yourself in the best possible position to drive the business forward. This could mean hiring an accountant, have someone else handled these support tickets or scheduling meetings, even small tasks, add up, take up mental space and will hold you back. Number six is automation? Ask yourself what repetitive and predictable parts of your work can be automated. Is it a customer service that can be timed? Is it invoicing maybe scheduling caring meetings? There are numbers tools that can help you automate low value action that at the end of the day will create more time for you to use. However, you see fit, Number seven is template sizing some parts of your work can be template ID put into a template, anything from instructions as to how to get to your office or studio. Two questions you get asked often you can tell information into knowledge by writing it down and sharing it when appropriate. This type of knowledge retention will not only save you time on day to day tasks, but will also make the onboarding of new team members so much easier. Number eight is prioritization. One of the hardest things to do is to knowingly stop doing something letting fires burn. I know it may sound like bad advice, but if you do it intelligently, you will make enough progress on the other parts of your business to compensate for the parts that you are not attending to. It might mean that you'll have to de prioritize a smaller customer while working with that big strategic project that will take the business forward. The one thing to note here is that if you do let fires burn, you should also consider making that decision known to your team or your client and of course have a way to turn that fire off later. In this example, it might mean responding slow to a customer, but then giving them a discount and a phone call to apologize. If you can put these methods into work, you're going to be able to not only maintain your business but also grow it in the direction that you want while keeping a satisfying level of sanity, enjoy.
