Stakeholder Management
the newfound complexity of your life requires you to manage your stakeholders, but before you can manage them, you need to understand exactly who they are. Up until not long ago, your stakeholder, we're your partner and your boss and maybe your kid or a parent. These are the people who looked up to you for answers, who relied on you in some sort of way or have expectations for you. Your life was arranged around them. Now you've added additional stakeholders and not only that you have to answer to those additional stakeholders, whether they are prospects, clients, employees or Windows, it also changes your dynamic with the existing stakeholders. The decision to start a side hustle or to go business has tremendous implications. Starting a business means that you probably won't have the same bandwidth at work, you won't be able to take on all of the walk all over the time. You will probably be slightly less engaged. You'll probably divert some of your ambitions outside of your existing da...
y job and into your own business. It also means that you might take on new types of stress and anxiety and that they will have an impact on how you perform at work and at home. This requires management, it requires attention, it requires you to take a more active approach and it requires you to let those people around you know what you're getting yourself into, what should they expect, How can they support you, how would you like to be supported? You want to give them the opportunity to negotiate and agree to this new situation. So what responsibilities will you maintain? What will you delegate ignoring these critical conversations will build in your relationships and help your long term chances of succeeding turning your allies into liabilities? Each case each scenario and each person is a unique situation. There is very little that we can say that will be fitting for everyone's life. But what we can say is this you do not want to open new fronts while committing to an already huge undertaking such as going a business. This is why we encourage you to be open, honest and upfront.
