Taking care of Business before the shooting day
We talked about this beforehand, but I just want to reiterate, taking care of business on the wedding day is not necessarily the best thing to do. We wanna make sure that we have dotted all our I's crossed all our ts and we've taken care of as much business before the wedding day, the day, the wedding should be reserved for taking photos and interacting with your couple in a creative and fun way. We should not be worrying about signing contracts or negotiating or doing any of those kind of things on the day of because there's really no need to, you will have had plenty of time beforehand to figure this out. And the only kind of piece of business is to know whom is paying you towards the end of the day. I know I spoke about this earlier, but it is a really good idea to understand who will be giving you the final payment on the day of the wedding. So there's no questioning it. It's a very easy question to ask your couple before the wedding day. So they're not stressed out about it and yo...
u can do it very easily. Hey, um who do you think will be giving me the final payment on the day of the wedding? And they'll figure it out. And that way there's no worry about it. I'd like to tell you a small story. I did have one problem at one wedding one time over 15 to 20 years where it became a mess. It was the end of the night. I had not figured out who was supposed to give me the final payment. And I, uh, the bride and groom had actually left, we shot the grand exit and they had left the building, they had left the premises. So I went to the maid of honor and asked her who would be giving me the final payment. She didn't know. And now I had to start bouncing to all these different people at the wedding till I finally got to, uh, a father and a mother of, I believe the groom and they had no idea that anyone was supposed to pay me. So at that point, I didn't know quite what to do, especially because at that point, everyone at the end of the night was exhausted. They're tired. Maybe they had a little bit to drink. Um, it's hard to make sure that you get paid and I didn't want to have to leave without getting paid. Someone eventually showed up with a check and everything worked out, but you never know. Um, when something like that's gonna happen, it's not something to be totally stressed out about because you do have all their photos and you can talk to them later about it. It's not like you'd hold them hostage about getting paid, but you do have that leverage if you need it. It's just helpful to make sure to take care of that stuff beforehand. So there's no problems and it's very easy. Again, this goes back to running a clean and efficient business dotting all your, I's crossing all your ts making sure everything is in place and you know what's going on, good communication with you and your clients.
