How to Shoot: Posed Couples Portraits

So I got the two of them here. They're so happy to see each other because we've had our first look already. Chances are your couple has not seen each other for a few hours. So they're gonna be quite chatty. So we're gonna start with the couple poses without the bouquet. And I think this is the best way to start, especially out in the field. We're not gonna be uh using any objects. This is just strictly out in the field, how to pose their bodies together. So let's go ahead and we'll take the bouquet away and then we'll instruct them on how to uh run through multiple poses very quickly. All right, I'm gonna take this from you and I hand that to my lovely assistant. So I still have them in the shade. I'm gonna start with them sort of apart and then we're gonna work our way to getting closer and closer and closer. So this is exactly how I want you guys. So hands either in front or behind. Yeah, facing me. Look, they're already naturally doing things. Actually, I'm gonna move this way, Sam,...

can you guys just uh like rotate like that. Yeah. Perfect. Yeah. And you're looking right at me. Beautiful head on shoulder. That's great. Natural. No, it's very good. Now, if you guys could just face each other, don't put your arms are, aren't, don't touch each other just facing each other. Very good. Awesome. That's beautiful. Now, if you guys can just hold hands across from each other, kinda like kinda like that. Yeah. Perfect and looking right at each other. Big smiles. You guys are getting married. This is beautiful. What a beautiful day. Awesome. OK. Now, if both of now, if both of you could look at me. Yeah, hold your hands. Keep the pose. Both of you look at me. Now, uh Danielle, keep looking at me, James, look at her the other way, James. Look at her. There you go. Daniel looking at me. Awesome. Now let's switch that. Danielle. Look at James. James, look at me. Beautiful. You guys are doing great. Cool. What's really funny about this is like while you're posing them since they haven't seen each other all morning, they're gonna have their own interactions and it's good to remember to take photos while they're just hanging out because you never know what's gonna pop up. You can see they're already naturally laughing. You have to be ready to go with your f your focus and your trigger finger very quickly. All right. So now I'm gonna do the same thing with the bouquet. All right. So the same thing. Shoulder to shoulder. If you guys can face me, don't hold them just shoulder shoulder. Yeah, both hands on. Ok. Perfect up like that. Fantastic. Yeah, I like I like doing this because it feels like classic. No smiles and then smiles, big smiles, cheesy smiles. Now, look at each other. Thank you. That was beautiful. Awesome. Ok. Now we're gonna take the bouquet away. You can see that there's a natural laughing order to this thing. It becomes a little bit of awkwardness. You can remember that these are not models, they are a couple getting married on what is for them? One of the more important days of their lives. And uh you just gotta find those natural instincts of laughing and things like that. So um let's do a couple others where uh so Daniel, can you put your arms around his neck? You guys can face each other. Your arms are and then uh your hands are on her side like that. Exactly. And just looking right at each other. Cute, cute, beautiful. We saw the first date video. Now we are getting married. Beautiful looking at each other. Now, Danielle, can you put your hand your head on his chest just naturally? Yeah. Just how does that feel? Just do it naturally. There you go. Beautiful. Look down at her for me, James. Awesome big smiles. Both of you. Can you look up at him for me? Awesome. Cute. That's very good. Ok. Now if, um, you can get in front of him and can you put your hands around her? I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna say it and see what happens. How, how do you feel comfortable? Um, no, because he's pretty tall. So that's good. Your faces are close to each, to each other. Big smiles. Awesome. And if you could look up at him for me, I know it's awkward. All right. Yeah. Take your heels off and do that same thing. If you don't mind standing in the grass, I slept in an acorn. Wow, let's really make sure. Ok, looking back up at him, look down at her for me. Look at each other. Cute. Fantastic. All right, cool. How do you feel about, uh, running without heels? Just like a real quick. So what I want you to do is, is uh leapfrog with each other. So I want you to take a few, not actual leapfrog, but like, so like if give me your hand, so I'm gonna stand stop and then you go forward, keep running and then pull him forward like that. And then I collect that. You do that. But let's start back here. So I have this little trick where we're gonna have them sort of pull each other. Each, they stop, they pull, they stop the pull and what this does, it gives them a ton of motion and uh, we're gonna try and see what happens. So here we go. You guys ready? Alright. Go for it. You go so like move forward, pull her up but keep your ground. Yeah. And then when you get to me just go both of you go around me. No take your don't don't close line me just go around me. All right whenever you're ready. Yeah. So typically I would do that a little bit longer. Maybe have them go a little further back but you see we got a couple of really fun images here. It's good to have your camera on burst mode. Maybe we do that one more time if your feet are OK with that. OK, we're gonna do it one more time. We're gonna set them a little further back and we're gonna do a little bit of burst mode. There you go. So, so yeah, just pull, pull your partner, pull your partner, stand your ground, pull your partner, let them pull, you stand on the ground. But let you know you still have to get pulled. OK, whenever you're ready. Yeah, that was much better. So, more distance. A little bit more pulling and pushing. We got some really fun photos here. Oh, yeah. Fantastic. So that there we go. There's some good quick posing for couples.
