Know what you will be photographing ahead of time

We went over the schedule of the wedding, we went over talking with the coordinator and I know this may sound redundant, but you need to know what exactly you are photographing on the wedding day. Now, of course, we've decided we know exactly, you know, the ceremony is getting ready all those things. But you also need to talk to your couple about what photos they specifically want, not only what photos they specifically want of themselves and each other, but also are there other people that are special at this wedding that they wanna make sure they get a very specific photo with? This is kind of a really fun light uh thing to add to one of your meetings with them, especially after you've booked them, right, sit your couple down and ask what exactly are we gonna be photographing? Who exactly will be at this wedding that you need to make sure you get a photo with. There's been times where there may be an elderly person in their family where they want to make sure that they will be seen i...

n the photographs. And so having a short list of people like that or specific events like that uh are very important. You can find these out by talking to your couple and just becoming friends with them. I had one bride who was very adamant. She had a picture that she had in her house for a long time of her grandmother, helping her mother into her dress and she wanted to replicate the same photo with her mother. And so knowing that I'm like, all right, I need to put a lot more emphasis on getting ready. I need to make sure to be there. I need to check the lighting, I need to do all these things because I know that she wants that specific photo. So finding out exactly what they want as far as photographs is really good and not all couples will actually have a list of exact photos that they want. So that might make it a little bit easier. But knowing what events might happen, that are specialty that are outside of our normal scheduling program, what people are there that are very important to be getting photos with and having a general idea of what is going to be happening as far as surprises go as far as specialty events, all these things are very crucial and you can add them into the PDF that we've added. Make sure that the night before your wedding, you go over all these things in your head, write them down if you need to put them on your phone. Lock screen, put them in a, a sheet in your camera bag, but just know that there are may or may not be extra things for you to shoot other than the typical scheduled things for a wedding.
