Marketing Before the Craft Show
Let's talk about marketing the show uh here's another one of my very old booths this actually set up in an office show this was when I did like forty five shows in one season so in like two months yeah I had a several different people going out doing shows for me like my friends I took all my stuff and split it into my stock into four anyway I was doing a lot of shows and I did not promote all of them and guess who was sitting at a show that nobody came teo there was like maybe ten people that showed up to this will show me and I was only person to blame you know like I couldn't be blaming the producers because I didn't do my part you know so so unfair so and I like I said I was doing forty shows and like that's not a good excuse so sorry I was doing too many shows no like you and maybe your customers don't want to hear like every day I'm doing this I'm doing that make a show calendar put it on your block every once in a while jump onto your social media link up to that block post that...
has the links to all those shows hope don't forget hope to see you guys show calendars on on the block like link it up you know come out here this is where I'm gonna be uh printed materials some shows give you printed materials some shows don't I'm still of the belief that you know handing all for online promotion but I think also you know postcards are great I always keep them with me um we mail post postcards out torre vendors and the person at the post office what do you mailing all these things out oh it's a craft show comes to the craft show I mean my ups guy you know it was just like you're getting so many heavy boxes now like yeah there are post cards for a show oh is that what you do and no idea yeah he came to patchwork oakland yeah and he was like I had a great time and I'm lucky that this show that I do is free you know so it's not like I'm just come to the show and then give my vendors your money you know so you never know I just carry him with you with you everywhere soon as they send you those posters if they don't give you postcards create your own you know create something that you can hand to people when you're out you handle it if most your shows are not in your local area like I know sells bay and they're really earned a lot of shows the south bay they're a good fit for me so I typically go to shows up here but if I try to give postcards for san francisco shows the center's ap like you I don't go to san francisco well that's when and start me and start talking about traffic and and parking and the tenderloin and yeah, well, you have to you have to think about when you're doing out of area shows promotion is a little bit different, so, like, if I'm doing it out of town show in phoenix, I mean, I maybe no six people in phoenix are right and they were like, fifty miles apart. Well, it doesn't matter if a city is twenty miles if they're not going to go there, they're not going to go there. I would concentrate on putting my postcards in areas where those people would travel. So, like baby craft craft shops, you know, something you're going to have to be kind of like figure that out on your own. Another thing is to do depending on your time situation, do a field trip to that area and put put out your postcards there. We're gonna talk about spreading the word online right now. So doing during your social media, which we talked about combining, you know, in into into one post if you're doing a lot of shows and your newsletter, so you know you're getting newsletter sam's while you're at that show, you're spreading that to the next people not happen nothing. Well, not people do not want me to have their email address at all for the sake of everyone right now, I think that the purchase was on to the next flight, but we can definitely talk about it after yeah, we'll definitely talk about this afterwards on then you also want to you can also promote on event sites like we put our event, we make a yelp for it some, you know, there's an etsy local thing now, which yeah, which you can, you can use that, and then you can put it in your shop announcement, and they're so, so many different ways, and we actually do a thing at our show where we ask people how they found out about it and it's so cool to see all the different ways because we go out and distribute postcards, and I'm just like, is anybody really coming from all of this from all of this leg work and then just see picked up your postcard in oakland dish it's like, okay, even if that was just that one person that's how you really I mean, that's, how you're you're building your audience and like introducing new people to your vendors and also making your post interesting and not just about you and your stuff. So talking about the other vendors that are going to be there may be talking about the area where the show is. You know, like, hey, this is right next to a farmer's market that's there on that's there on sunday. So come by this show, and you can do your weekly shopping.

It was an awesome experience. I learned so much from Nicole. She is entertaining and so knowledgeable that I feel I left the show with soooooo much info. I loved being in the studio audience, I met so many great people, crafters and new friends I feel we all became one big support for each other. I am putting to good use everything I learned. I look forward to coming back to Creative Live for another learning experience. Craft Show Secrets taught me all the ins/outs of craft shows ...I'm excited for my next craft show. Time to Create!!!

I've been growing my business successfully online for the last six years, but hadn't shown my work in person for a decade. As a refresher, I took Nicole's craft show class to be sure that I made the most of the time I would have in front of my customers. Because of the preparedness and mindset that I gained from Nicole's teaching, my show was a huge success. My interactions with the customers, producers, and other vendors were genuine and joyful, building a stronger foundation for future business and relationships. This course took the worry and stress off my shoulders so I could enjoy the opportunity that I had. Thanks, Nicole! Tamara Kraft Pithitude
