Follow Up with Producers

So now that's, me and my partner, delilah, one of our shows. And you know that I put us up there because we're gonna talk about following up with producers. So how many of you guys have sent a note? Two producers of shows saying, thank you. How many of you have sent a note to producers saying, like, if if maybe something was wrong? Or you had, like, a suggestion or something? Okay so we have not that many people have have sent any kind of feedback to producers and out of that amount we were tended more to write some something that we had a suggestion for instead of just to say thank you well the good news is I was totally in your shoes too so it was a really long time before I even I didn't even think of sending thank you no for doing shows I I started producing patchwork and I remember a vendor said the first thank you no thank you so much for putting on this show I can tell how much hard work you put into it I just want to know it was appreciated and I'm like where's the rest of the ...

email with the mean stuff you know but there wasn't one that was it and whenever I get those it you know there's no gold stars for me you know those air michael stars those are my warm fuzzies that I need so we all just as people can learn as much from knowing what we did right as knowing what we can improve on right you don't know that you're doing it right how do you know to continue it so just reaching reaching out and sending that so let's talk about that's my husband's hand that's my sketchbook let's talk about how we're going teo follow up with those show producers so the first thing we talked about was gratitude so emailing the producers of thank you thank you email or a note um really hopes kind of keep you in good standing and they remember you if you're one of only four people that sent that thank you note you're going to remember it yeah er what have been doing though is posting something for example on facebook and saying hey to cruise of lake s if it see thank you so much it was awesome I really enjoyed like my my experience or yeah that's great I mean that's that's awesome I will say that like larger shows they're not the producers of people to do the jury aren't always the ones that are doing the social media so like kind of keeping aware of that they might not they might not know ah smaller show for sure it's like we're doing everything you know of course of course we see that but that doing it on social media is great I would couple them together so we're going to we're going to talk about social media in a second and then I've had people do this before it doesn't make me like wanna let people in or not but sometimes people will will give a gift and especially happens craft cation and it's always really meaningful and thoughtful and I always appreciate it but again like you want that to be a genuine kind of situation it's never like I'm giving you this I want a really good spot next time or something like that and you could kind of tell when somebody's like that right so let's talk about constructive criticism because I want everybody to learn this we all need to learn this we actually learned this here in this workshop when we gave each other constructive criticism right so you want teo way talk about marinating you don't want to marinate in the bad stuff you want to like let that relaxing stuff marinate in you you want to give yourself a chance to calm down if you're anything like me when you're mad you are mad and you need to say something right then and you can't stand to let that and you just have to get it out right then so I sit down and I write it down but I don't send it to anybody and I give myself a least twenty four hours 00:04:03.465 --> 00:04:06. I just did that three days ago you know I just wrote 00:04:06.52 --> 00:04:10. this two page letter maybe we'll never get sent you 00:04:10.57 --> 00:04:12. know but I couldn't sleep for two nights in a row 00:04:12.75 --> 00:04:16. that's what I needed to dio so you want to start with 00:04:16.13 --> 00:04:20. the positive and you want to choose your phrases wisely 00:04:20.46 --> 00:04:23. so think of really really think about what you're 00:04:23.33 --> 00:04:26. saying keep it short you know if you need to make 00:04:26.48 --> 00:04:29. it bullet pointed or like just break your criticism 00:04:29.75 --> 00:04:33. down until like only saying five things what was that 00:04:33.81 --> 00:04:36. category? Some critics yes. Subcategories of criticism, 00:04:37.25 --> 00:04:41. eh? You know, saying, like, your show sucked is not 00:04:41.22 --> 00:04:44. very helpful, but saying like, you know, I did your 00:04:44.84 --> 00:04:46. show, it seemed like 00:04:47.25 --> 00:04:52. attendance was down from the holiday show I just wanted 00:04:52.03 --> 00:04:53. just wanted to let you know, is there anything you 00:04:53.97 --> 00:04:56. guys did differently with advertising, you know, with 00:04:56.16 --> 00:04:58. advertising? Or, you know, what? At whatever it is, 00:04:58.57 --> 00:05:00. just letting them know, like, a specific thing that's 00:05:00.61 --> 00:05:03. wrong, they're not always, like running around, you 00:05:03.91 --> 00:05:06. know, aware of every single thing that's happening, 00:05:07.35 --> 00:05:11. and then including holla, veer information. So I get 00:05:11.66 --> 00:05:14. this a lot, you know, where I'll I'll get a criticism, 00:05:14.61 --> 00:05:17. and the person will just sign it, you know, love kelly, 00:05:17.56 --> 00:05:19. you know? Well, they won't say love, but I'll just 00:05:19.23 --> 00:05:23. say, kelly, I'm like, okay, what's your last name 00:05:23.42 --> 00:05:26. what's your business name? Which location of show 00:05:26.61 --> 00:05:31. that you did, which season and what? You know, where 00:05:31.22 --> 00:05:33. was your booth? You know, if you're complaining about, 00:05:33.41 --> 00:05:35. like, your booth location, I need to know where your 00:05:35.08 --> 00:05:37. booth is. You're going to make me go back, search 00:05:37.62 --> 00:05:40. for all the stuff, look for all the kellys find, find 00:05:40.85 --> 00:05:43. who you are, it's, you know, so you wantto 00:05:45.85 --> 00:05:48. uh include everything that they could possibly want 00:05:48.76 --> 00:05:50. to know about you and then length you want to keep 00:05:50.95 --> 00:05:53. it a sure is possible if you can say it in one word 00:05:53.82 --> 00:05:56. say it you know just look at all of your stuff like 00:05:56.53 --> 00:05:59. remember we were talking about the bio and it's like 00:05:59.26 --> 00:06:01. you look at their what's the least amount of information 00:06:01.71 --> 00:06:04. that I could share that's going to get my point across 00:06:04.35 --> 00:06:07. to somebody else and then all this criticism needs to be private so when you're you know posting things on facebook kind of badmouthing this is a very small community no matter where you are in the country no matter where you are in the world this community is small everybody knows each other and nobody wants criticism is private end of story uh I think this is an example of an email that I would send to a show so dearly and marla of the crafty kraft show team thank you for including me in sunday's show I had a really nice time and I met some great people I can tell how much work you put into this show but how well organized it wass I love that you had food vendors of vegetarian options too you know if that was awesome to let them know because maybe that wasn't even something that they were aware of you know like how good now we need have vegetarian next time I was a little disappointed with the placement of my booth, it was in a dark area of the building, and I felt like this affected my traffic in sales. Next time, you might want to consider adding more lighting to that aaron. If that's that's not possible, maybe don't produce there. Just for your reference. I was in booth bla bla bla at the show in los angeles, and my name is nicole, and my company is this again, thanks for putting on a fun show. I would this time. This is what I want to see, you know, I love great feedback, but I also like feedback, that's, like, you know, letting me know how things can improve. That's, a compliment sandwich filled with lots of information, is awesome, you know, and you want those compliments to be genuine, too.

It was an awesome experience. I learned so much from Nicole. She is entertaining and so knowledgeable that I feel I left the show with soooooo much info. I loved being in the studio audience, I met so many great people, crafters and new friends I feel we all became one big support for each other. I am putting to good use everything I learned. I look forward to coming back to Creative Live for another learning experience. Craft Show Secrets taught me all the ins/outs of craft shows ...I'm excited for my next craft show. Time to Create!!!

I've been growing my business successfully online for the last six years, but hadn't shown my work in person for a decade. As a refresher, I took Nicole's craft show class to be sure that I made the most of the time I would have in front of my customers. Because of the preparedness and mindset that I gained from Nicole's teaching, my show was a huge success. My interactions with the customers, producers, and other vendors were genuine and joyful, building a stronger foundation for future business and relationships. This course took the worry and stress off my shoulders so I could enjoy the opportunity that I had. Thanks, Nicole! Tamara Kraft Pithitude
