Booth Display: Where to Get Inspiration
So let's talk about where to get inspiration first thing I want to talk about us when we talk about inspiration we're not talking about copying they were talking about about getting inspired and I love this photograph right here this is one of our patrick oakland vendor stacy recognize this? Yes, yes and yes is the name of the business and she makes necklaces out of book covers so that california there's actually I don't know she does laser cutting laser cut so it's laser cut out of a book cover so for her display she has her necklace stand sitting on top of books it is I mean, there are so many things that are right about that but I can't it's hard to even start but it's bringing her materials and you know, it's making it fits in with her branding so you may be at a craft show and see this and think, oh, but when he's books in my booth who will go home and think our our boat do books fit with your branding I don't think books would fit in with this it doesn't doesn't make sense to me ...
um so you want to think about that and then you want to use him in a different way like she has them stacked up there, maybe you take the books and you actually if they fit with your branding, you create a wall you take all the book covers off, you know, create a wall for the back of your booth do it on some kind of, you know, paneling uh, so that it folds up and it can actually fit in your car maybe you take the book pages out and you fold them into little shapes and you have them hanging under your sign if that fits with yours that's what I mean by being inspired and not copying, you're looking at something and then putting your own spin on it. Okay, I'm going to share some of the places that high find inspiration, but I just like to hear three places, so first three people and then if anybody online has anything to feel free to jump in of where you guys find booth inspiration, pinterest, that's a great one, magazines and stores that I like yeah, I hear oh, that's a good one. Yeah, trade shows. Okay, well, we'll just get the next section because you guys just named off everything that I had I had to say, except for one which is pretty similar to what you said uh, craft shows so trade shows, craft shows, industry shows walking around going there as a customer, you're under there you you're not gonna have time and you're not going to be in the mind space to really look at stuff you're going to be walking walking by, you're not able to think about it so attending attending as a customer and even going to a show that isn't really like your genre, so maybe you d'oh you know, modern kid's shoes and you are always bending at the shows that sell your type of stuff go to the renaissance fair, you know, go to a music festival where they have craft vendors there you will get inspiration from people that aren't in your genre and then I also liked to watch the way customers in her act with the boost when I'm at a show because that tells me a lot it's not just the actual things that's like okay, the customer comes up and you see them reach to touch this, but then they don't touch it. So what is it about this that's making that stopping them? Do they feel it's too precious? Like, how can we invite them in there so really spending some time in the booth and watching customers interact and then using your critical eye okay magazines who I love magazines so this is a great place to find inspiration. Some of my favorites are pictured here my love anthology, which is a kind of like home to core designing magazine upper case, which is very designing but more art style molly make which is a craft magazine out of england and they have a couple of the magazines now domino which is a home decor magazine and sunset magazine and I actually get inspired by their garden section because I'm looking at color combinations found in nature mean nature has the most perfect I for what colors look good with each other because it's just happening naturally therefore it's nature so kind of thinking outside of the box with your with your stuff too you're not really just looking for things like okay let me look at how they display this in the living room it's like okay, let me look at this color combination here let me look at how they're juxtaposing patterns here and thinking about it in that different way and shops which we said so whatever kind of shops you walk into and you feel like when you walk in it's like I know right away I'm in west all I know right away I'm in nordstrom I know right away I'm here and think about how they're communicating that branding through everything about their display in merchandising and then I also look att window displays this is actually my old store right here andi I also look att window displays you know, anthropology has great window displays and they're like super crafty and they're usually made out of like trash materials of old books and papers and things like that that are really affordable and then the last one is our branding exercises. So our mood board that we did our ideal customer work, she our branding words on dh. Then our branding, works you where we kind of summarized all of that information. That's, where we're looking for our colors, for fonts, for a patterns for what we're going to juxtapose and then online pinterest is my is my top thing, there's so much there. I just want to make sure that it's really easy. When you're looking at just booth two, just coffee, you know, to just take. So try to really keep in mind that inspiration, not coffee.

It was an awesome experience. I learned so much from Nicole. She is entertaining and so knowledgeable that I feel I left the show with soooooo much info. I loved being in the studio audience, I met so many great people, crafters and new friends I feel we all became one big support for each other. I am putting to good use everything I learned. I look forward to coming back to Creative Live for another learning experience. Craft Show Secrets taught me all the ins/outs of craft shows ...I'm excited for my next craft show. Time to Create!!!

I've been growing my business successfully online for the last six years, but hadn't shown my work in person for a decade. As a refresher, I took Nicole's craft show class to be sure that I made the most of the time I would have in front of my customers. Because of the preparedness and mindset that I gained from Nicole's teaching, my show was a huge success. My interactions with the customers, producers, and other vendors were genuine and joyful, building a stronger foundation for future business and relationships. This course took the worry and stress off my shoulders so I could enjoy the opportunity that I had. Thanks, Nicole! Tamara Kraft Pithitude
