Sharing Images on CC / Web / Mobile
Let's talk then about sharing images. 'Cause we now have the ability and we know how to go into our Lightroom catalog, put images in there. It goes up to the Cloud. It shares it to all of our devices. But now we want to share it out to the world. We want other people to be able to see it. So let's talk about sharing. Let's share an individual image. So the easiest way for us to share - And inside of Lightroom CC there is a little arrow button that has a box around it. And it's a fairly common thing that you'll see throughout lots of places. But lightroom mobile has it. It's the same logo. You just simply click on it, and it gives you the option to share. Now currently there are two options inside of lightroom CC. They are "save to," which means if you wanna export a file. So if I click on "Save to" I can then save either a JPEG or the original plus the settings, which would mean that it would save the original file, which, if it's a CR-2, which is a raw Canon file, it would save the CR...
-2 plus the XMP sidecar file so that people could see what you had done with it. And then I can chose the location that it's going to and I can chose whether it's full size or I can customize the size of that photo and send it out. So JPEG or the original, that's what you've got right now. Now I can guarantee you that that is going to change, and there's going to be a lot more options. You'll be able to save tips and PSDs and all that kinda stuff I'm sure. But right now that's what you've got is either a JPEG or the original file. You can also send it to Facebook. What's gonna happen is it's going to send it to Facebook. You'll have to log into Facebook. It'll ask you to log in. And it's just going to send that to Facebook. If I click on that, it's gonna ask me to enter in a caption. And then it's also gonna ask me what place, where I wanna put that. So I could choose, like, travel photos. And then I could enter a caption and hit "share" and it's gonna share it out to Facebook directly. So before we do that, I'm gonna show you the same thing over here in your iPad so you can see where you can save it. So on your iPad, over in the top right-hand corner there is an area with that same arrow. Click on that. And here I have a lot of different options, 'cause Lightroom Mobile has been around a little bit longer, and so it's got more options. So you can see that I've got the option to share. I've got the option to save it to the camera roll. Remember, what's in Lightroom is not necessarily in the camera roll. So if I want something in the camera roll so that I can use some kinda typical Apple feature, then I put it in the camera roll and it'll always be in the camera roll for me. But typically I don't do that because I just use Lightroom for everything. So I very rarely need to go to the camera roll. But you can share it to the camera roll. You can also save it to your files, so the new version of Mobile iOS, it has a files area that you can save to. You can also "open in" or "edit in." And then you can export the original. So "open in" and "edit in" are fairly similar. One of them opens it up in an application, and the other one edits it. And some of the applications on your iOS device prefer a different way to get to it. So if you click on "open in" and you can't find it, then look on "edit in" and it'll probably be there. So look both places. So I'm gonna go to "open in." And I can choose maximum size or a small size, so I can just choose the small size. It doesn't have to be the full-sized photo. And then you can see what's available to me to open that in. And I can open it in Facebook, 'cause I have the Facebook app on my device. I can open it in Photoshop Fix or Photoshop Mix. And then I can click on this "more" button, and then it allows me to see other options that I have. And I can rearrange them and say I want Facebook to be the number one thing and Photoshop Fix to be the number two thing. By the way, Photoshop Fix is a great place if, for some reason, you wanted to remove people and you could only be on your iPad, Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix are really great tools. They're very, very powerful tools that basically put Photoshop's editing capabilities into your iPad or your iPhone. So just be aware that those are useful tools. And then, of course, down here "save to files." And you can also, if there's other programs on your iPad, you can turn those on as well to be inside of this menu. So I'm just gonna click on "Facebook." It's going to allow me to share it to Facebook. You notice that it's deciding where it's gonna go, so it's saying I'm posting to Facebook public. And, by the way, if out there you wanna check in and look at this when it posts so you can see what it is, just go to my Facebook page. I'm gonna make this a public post. And I can do that right here. I can just choose whether it's public or friends or whatever. I'm just sharing it to my timeline. So I'm sharing it to Jared Platt, so @jaredplatt. It's just Jared Platt on Facebook. So Facebook.com/jaredplatt. That's how you're gonna find this photo. And I'm gonna say something about it, and I'm gonna say "My drone selfie" - How do you spell "selfie?" Is it s-e-l-f-e-e? (off-camera-remark) i-e, selfie. Okay. "My drone selfie from Iceland. I won't attempt to say or spell the name of the location." There. 'Cause there's no way I could. It's crazy. That language is amazingly difficult. Okay. So then I'm gonna hit "post," and it's posted. So if you would like to go look at that, you will find it on Facebook, Facebook.com/jaredplatt. It just send it right there. So that's a really easy way to share your way through, say, your travels or whatever you're doing. So just be aware that sharing is easy both directly from Lightroom CC, also from Lightroom Mobile. It's very easy to share. So you can share from Lightroom two things that are attached. So if you're on your phone and you have, say, the Instagram app on your phone, you can share to Instagram or to Facebook or to Twitter or to anything that you have that's a social sharing platform, you can share to that directly from Lightroom as long as it's installed on your device. But you also have other options for sharing, and they're really incredible options for sharing. So I'm gonna show you in different places, but they're all available everywhere.

This class blew my mind! As a full-time professional photographer, with a very complicated workflow (that is next to impossible to explain to my assistant) I cannot express how essential this class is to overhauling and simplifying my workflow. I am so excited to finally be able to split my workflow between multiple laptops and work stations WITHOUT having to build a server at my studio. I love that I now have a framework to start building a new organizational and backup system that I can easily train others on, and mobilize quickly. With all of the changes and improvements that Adobe is bringing to Lightroom CC & Classic, this class is integral to understanding and utilizing the program to its fullest potential! Jared Platt is a wonderful teacher and this class especially is perfect for novices and seasoned professionals alike!

I was lucky enough to participate in-studio for this class. Jared is a great presenter and broke down the complicated Lightroom CC vs. Lightroom Classic changes. His conversational style of presenting kept things interesting and participants involved. This course was much more than just learning what the programs do. Jared walked through sample workflows to show when and why you would use the multitude of sliders and editing tools within the program. The course is worth every penny! Topics will remain pertinent well after newer versions of Lightroom CC and Classic are released.

I won't be able to watch all of this, but I purchased it anyway. Jared's ability to address the technical as well as the artistic aspects of Lightroom is unparalleled. He is one of my preferred presenters, especially for Lightroom. I especially appreciate how he has clarified the differences among the versions of Lightroom that are available. Thank you Jared!
