Nikon® D3300 Update
Hi, welcome to the nikon d thirty three hundred fast start addendum. You see, what has happened in the past is nikon had this great camera, the thirty one hundred and I made a class for it, and then they made a thirty, two hundred with a few minor differences. So we made and a little addendum. Teo kind of highlight those differences, and now they've come out with a thirty, three hundred and they had just a few changes again, and we wanted to make sure that you were fully updated in this class. For anyone who owns a thirty, three hundred. So let's, take a look at the difference between the thirty, three hundred versus the previous cameras. What they've done here is they've gone in, and they started to use carbon fiber in the body of the camera to lessen the way to the camera make it a little bit lighter weight. In a lot of the thirty, three hundred kits. These days, they will have the new eighteen to fifty five version to lens. Now this lens is thirty percent smaller and twenty percent ...
lighter. It still functions the same. It does have a button on it, which we will go into a retracted position that makes it even smaller in size. Now the camera itself has the new x speed. Four processor which is a little bit faster processor and as you see it'll have a little bit increased performance in the camera but as far as the general operation there is very little difference between this and the preceding camera so looking at it straight against the thirty, two hundred it's coming out about sixteen months after the thirty, two hundred the mega pixels is exactly the same twenty four but they have taken off the optical low pass filter which is a filter that they put on the front of the sensor in order to reduce moray problems. And so in this case the theory is is that if they take it off they're able to get a little bit sharper image out of the camera so you should be able to get slightly sharper images you might get some more es problems with subjects that have strange patterns to him for instance a lot of fabric you can have a pattern that kind of get mismatched with the pixels on the sensor so it's possible tohave mohr moray problems but sharper images the difference in either case is very very small from all the testing that I've seen they have been able to increase the so one stop to twenty five thousand and this is partly thanks to that new expiate for process of they're able to process the information a little bit better because they have a little bit more power on it they've increased the battery life quite a bit in the camera I'm not really sure how they've done it, but you're getting many more shots off of each battery charge they've also increased the viewfinder magnification, which means the screen as you look at it through the viewfinder is going to be a little bit bigger and easier to see which makes focusing composition all the better they've also increased the movie frame rates so the frames per second that you're shooting canal shoot up to sixty frames per second which for general tv viewing isn't gonna make any difference, but if you want to slow it down to half speed you will be able to do that a little bit more easily because you'll have more information that you're getting straight out of the camera the frames per second motor drive how fast can you shoot has been increased from four to five frames per second and back in the thirty, one hundred it was only three frames per second and so we're getting much faster very quickly here but that's kind of nice for anyone who is going to be shooting sports. They've also added a new panorama mode which I'm going to show you a little bit more about in just a second here and finally the weight of the camera has been reduced by a fair bit partly due to this carbon fiber material that they're using in the body let's, take a look at the difference between the thirty one, thirty two and thirty three because they've just simply moved a few of the buttons around on the thirty one it had a very cool lever on the top for changing the drive mode that has now turned into a button that has moved around a little bit on the back of the camera. So that's, if you want to change from single shot to continuous to the silent mode to the self timer, for instance, if you want to go into a live view, the thirty one had thirty, one hundred had a spring loaded switch on it and now it's just a simple button on the thirty two and thirty three hundred to record video, they have moved the orange record button to the top of the camera now, so if you want to shoot video at any time, you can just hit that record button. Now, one of the differences is in the dialogue on the top of the camera. The mod dial and the thirty three hundred has a new area called effects, and within effects is a lot of well, they're kind of goofy photo shopped in a camera modes, and so you don't want to do this for your really important photographs, but if you want to have a little bit of fun and have a different looking image you could do that in the effects now for the thirty, one hundred and thirty, two hundred users ah lot of those effects are in their cameras but they're in the playback editing modes that you can go in and do it now you can look at these effects ahead of time in the thirty three hundred the most important of these is the easy panorama because this is the first slr on the market that I know of that allows you to shoot a stitched panorama as you pan and shooting and so if you will have a really wide scene that you want a photograph from side to side, you need to use the camera in the live you mode and what you'll do is you'll take your first photo I like to take it at the left edge of the frame and then when you start to pan the camera you could go in any direction you want the camera will start taking pictures and we'll be able to stitch together a whole series of them now the resolution that you can get depends a little bit on how you have the camera set up these stitched panoramas air on lee going to be in j peg there are two versions that you can get teo normal and wide and you will be able to adjust this in the image size setting within your menu you can see the pixel dimensions listed on serena's, how wide you can get, and you can see that there is, ah, little bit of an advantage by holding the camera vertically and panning sideways. That way, the camera is reaching a little bit further up and down as it's, piecing it together and that's gonna be a great mode for anyone who doesn't want to stitch of panorama together later on in photo shop, because maybe they don't have the right software. But this is a great way to get it done out in the field. So that's the difference. Not a lot of differences. With fifty three or thirty, three hundred, they've made it lighter. They that the panorama mode, they've made it a little bit more efficient on the battery great camera, just like thirty two, thirty, one hundred. And so that catches you up to date on the differences between thirty one, thirty two and thirty three. So now you could head back to the rest of the class and enjoy the rest of it. Thank you.

Wow! Amazing course. I started learning photography on my own about 6 months ago. I read many blogs and tutorials and watched a lot of you tube videos. I then decided to buy Johns Intro to Digital Photography course. It's an excellent class and I was learning so much, but having still having trouble understanding how I could translate what I was learning into taking great pictures with my camera. I read my user manual a few times and still had a lot of questions. I was really hesitant to buy this course because I am cheap. Lol. I thought I should b able to learn everything using my FREE user manual. I am so glad I decided to buy the class. Everything finally makes sense. He even gave examples of pictures and showed how he would set up this camera to get a good shot. John is an excellent teacher. Worth every penny.

Wonderful resource! I'm a brand new photographer, with a brand new 3300 that I bought because I decided that if I was ever going to get the most out of my point & shoot, I would have to learn to use a "grown up" camera. That seems backwards, I know, but there don't seem to be classes that help a person go beyond p &; s. Since I'm new to photography in general, I found the pace to be super fast - thank goodness I could yell "wait!" at the computer then rewind! The operational section was extremely useful. Being able to practice resetting the various elements was exactly what I needed. I do wish that I'd watched the 3300 update before watching the rest of the episodes. The functionality of the newer model was just different enough to make me want to pull out my hair. What dial? What button? So that would be my tip: if you have a 3200 or 3300, watch that segment first and maybe make a note of the changes so you don't go mad during certain portions of the course. Otherwise, it was great, and I so appreciate the fact that I'll be able to go back and review sections whenever I want. Now it';s off to the basic photography class! Thanks, CreativeLive!

I'm an amateur photographer. I decided to upgrade from my iPhone and point and shoot camera. I bought the Nikon D3300. I then found John's class on the D3300. His easy to follow course walked me step by step and button by button around and in my new camera. It was worth the money. His tips, tricks, and hidden gems took me from auto to the big 4-manual, aperture, shutter, and programming! Wow. With my new understanding of the camera, my pictures improved with each shoot. Practice makes better...but it was the confidence John gave me to go out and use the entire camera that is making me a better storyteller. This course is a must view for all new Nikon D3300 camera owners! Thank you John for a great learning experience!
