Nikon® D3200 Update
All right, this is an addendum to the nikon thirty, two hundred class. If you have watching this, chances are that you have purchased a d thirty two hundred and you've purchased the class and we made a class on the nikon d thirty one hundred, and then they came out with this camera called the d thirty two hundred, which, from a marketing and sales point of view, well, it was a pretty big improvement over thirty one hundred, but from the actual functions and using the camera it's almost exactly the same, they moved a couple of buttons and made just a few finer minor changes, and so what we've decided to do is to do a short addendum should be about five minutes. Just explaining the difference is between thirty, two hundred and thirty, one hundred. So what I'd recommend is watching this little addendum to figure out what those changes are. Go ahead and watch the thirty, one hundred class and then come back and watch this again just to kind of refresh what some of those differences are so ...
let's. Take a look at thirty, two hundred and how it compares with thirty, one hundred. All right, so from the outset, they look very, very similar, so one of the noticeable changes is that you can get the thirty, two hundred in red. Isn't that cool? Okay, so we have different colors we can choose from. Well, let's get into some of the technical stuff about the camera first off the thirty two hundred was recently announced here in april of two thousand twelve. The thirty, one hundred was announced in two thousand ten and the big marketing difference on this is the mega pixels have taken a big jump up from fourteen megapixels to twenty four megapixels and one of the websites online that does some testing of the sensors recently came out with results and it is one of the best sensors of that sensor size that has ever been actually came out number two overall up to this point in time, so it's got a very, very good sensor and that's the big reason for the change in the camera beyond that there's another a few other small changes. For instance, the frames per second that you can shoot in the motor drive mode has gone up one two four frames a second. They've expanded some of the capabilities in the movie mode. You can now shoot at thirty frames per second and there are some different frame rates that you can also get to with different resolutions the sow is exactly the same, but in the thirty, one hundred sixty four hundred was known as hye won and now sixty, four hundred is known as sixty four hundred doesn't that make sense there's languages before there was lots of choices and now there are even more choices for for different people around the world and all of those languages apparently have cost the camera a few grams of weight because the camera's weight has gone up by five grams now there are some more functional differences throughout the camera so let's take a look at what those are number one they have added an infrared receiver so that you can use the nikon ml l three remote this is something that the thirty one hundred could not deal it was one of the up sales to get the nikon d fifty one hundred but now it is available on all their cameras as we look at the top of the camera the thirty one hundred had a dial on it that I actually kind of like there's more of a switch I guess that changed the release mode from single shot to continuous and also you could access the self timer well the new camera has added more self timer functions you can now set it to two, five, ten or twenty seconds you can also shoot anywhere from one to nine exposures at the end of the self timer so they've added more features and they weren't able to encompass all of those into a switch so they added a button that you khun press to access those features they've also changed how you turn on the camera when you want to go in tow live you the previous one had a spring loaded switch and now the new camera has simply a button on it s o they've moved a little bit of that switch around and then your movie record button has gone from the little orange button on the back to a little orange button up by the shutter release and so it's very similar to other nikon cameras. They're putting more of the movie record button's right up there just off of where the shutter release is and we also have a manual option to set s o or shutter speed so we have some more manual controls for anyone wanting to shoot video. Another nice improvement on the camera is that they have increased the resolution of the lcd in the back of the camera, so it is much higher resolution and matches up with many of their other cameras. They've also added an infrared port on the back so that you can use that infrared remote from the back side of the camera as well as the front side of the camera and be careful here because they have switched the plus and minus zoom in zoom out buttons and so when you're zooming in whether you're in live you are playing back an image they just kind of reversed the orientation of these buttons over on the side of the camera, they have added a microphone input so that you can add stereo sound by hooking up in external microphone, and they changed one of the usb eighty output, steve kind of consolidated output so they could make room for the microphone input so it's a different plug in connection, and they've also added wireless capabilities with the w you want a wireless, and this will transmit to a compatible smart device up to forty nine feet away, so kind of an interesting little feature there, and so that takes care of most of the things, but I think the most significant change in the camera is they've changed the little red thumb thing that you put your finger on, so that little shape of it has changed into the new style grippy thing that you'll see on most nikon cameras, and that is pretty much all the differences in the cameras. As you go through the menu system, they might use a few different words or slightly different ways of explaining what a particular feature is, but those are by far and away the most important changes in the thirty, two hundred. So now you should go do is go watch the thirty one hundred class and enjoy your camera lot because it's going to be fun camera to use, so, thanks a lot.

Wow! Amazing course. I started learning photography on my own about 6 months ago. I read many blogs and tutorials and watched a lot of you tube videos. I then decided to buy Johns Intro to Digital Photography course. It's an excellent class and I was learning so much, but having still having trouble understanding how I could translate what I was learning into taking great pictures with my camera. I read my user manual a few times and still had a lot of questions. I was really hesitant to buy this course because I am cheap. Lol. I thought I should b able to learn everything using my FREE user manual. I am so glad I decided to buy the class. Everything finally makes sense. He even gave examples of pictures and showed how he would set up this camera to get a good shot. John is an excellent teacher. Worth every penny.

Wonderful resource! I'm a brand new photographer, with a brand new 3300 that I bought because I decided that if I was ever going to get the most out of my point & shoot, I would have to learn to use a "grown up" camera. That seems backwards, I know, but there don't seem to be classes that help a person go beyond p &; s. Since I'm new to photography in general, I found the pace to be super fast - thank goodness I could yell "wait!" at the computer then rewind! The operational section was extremely useful. Being able to practice resetting the various elements was exactly what I needed. I do wish that I'd watched the 3300 update before watching the rest of the episodes. The functionality of the newer model was just different enough to make me want to pull out my hair. What dial? What button? So that would be my tip: if you have a 3200 or 3300, watch that segment first and maybe make a note of the changes so you don't go mad during certain portions of the course. Otherwise, it was great, and I so appreciate the fact that I'll be able to go back and review sections whenever I want. Now it';s off to the basic photography class! Thanks, CreativeLive!

I'm an amateur photographer. I decided to upgrade from my iPhone and point and shoot camera. I bought the Nikon D3300. I then found John's class on the D3300. His easy to follow course walked me step by step and button by button around and in my new camera. It was worth the money. His tips, tricks, and hidden gems took me from auto to the big 4-manual, aperture, shutter, and programming! Wow. With my new understanding of the camera, my pictures improved with each shoot. Practice makes better...but it was the confidence John gave me to go out and use the entire camera that is making me a better storyteller.
