Go Forth & Teach!
My final message to you is go forth and teach I hope that everybody is super feels way more prepared to go ahead and teach and not only more prepared but more confident that they are as I said before a teacher because we are all teachers um how do you guys feel? Yeah yeah as compared tio yesterday the beginning feeling yeah what's one what's one I want you guys to maybe share one thing that you feel like you you are going to take with you didn't know I get it there's one element that maybe it's too big for this class but you didn't really type done that the pricing yourself yes for yeah I know and I'm way yeah, it is a little bit too big for this thing and when I mentioned in the prior segment and there's an example in the workbook I really want o I want you to make sure that you're doing the math and you're doing your research so figure out what people who are out there teaching are charging ask people and can you know do the math really really it's not going to be the same for every ...
person right? And we can talk about that more later and also in that in the virtual teacher's lounge I would love for people to start talking about pricing because I think that that's really important to be sort of open and transparent about about these things does that does that help? I know it's so big I never thought of that example in the workbook just as a starting off point you can work and then I was like did I not like I know because we did we did it really quickly right? Because it is sort of like this but you know this and there's a whole workshop on there's a whole class on creative live on pricing your work which can kind of fall into that category as well um so you need a big takeaways? Maybe we'll hear a few uh well, I feel like I had written a lot of d I wise for my blogged and so I felt like I was very, very good it like figuring out the steps of what everybody needs to take on and the like one component for the teaching aspect was kind of like what you're talking about breaking things into the demo and then work and because I have done some teaching, but I kind of did most of the demoing in the beginning, but I that's like the thing that makes me feel like, oh, I just already have all of this tools it just need to like arrange it slightly yeah, and I'm like ready to go pretty much oh, I'm so glad and and it's nice to kind of look at it from that kind of aerial view teo and you see your class kind of mapped out into demos and then you start to feel more confident about like bringing people together and then sending them out again and bringing them back together because it creates a nice flow to the class that's awesome I'm glad that's your takeaway anyone else created that prompt or offered that prompt you know that we could apply teo I guess expand on it and he's in different ways from expanding on it into the lesson plan and then expanding or using that it yes playing tio you know, dress it up for the pitch you're referring to the lesson of yeah the way way that you know yeah, that was so so handy temple it was yeah, you could just get right in there and start that's my gift to you from the teacher training world it was technique or a project and you could balance it depending on the venue that you're going to. And I also think I liked when you said you could decorate yeah like you can put your your personality and share it with the little things that they do know it makes a difference it makes it fun for you is a craft are you like oh that's like what I do well, thank you I really liked learning that introductory and beginner classes are really valuable and that they're very popular because I think as an artist I always think I have to hit it out of the park with some fabulous project and so that's when the project and technique the understanding the difference between the classes is going to be helpful I never thought to teach just a technique class or realize that I was actually teaching just a technique class like with the trees or something so um lots lots of goodies taken away to oh I'm so glad yeah thank you and you know that thanks to the panel right for offer that advice about the introductory beginner's class is yeah my level of arts horse not yeah and I never really separated it that way and we also heard christine say that yesterday right? She loves teaching beginners right and she's not a beginner by any means right? So it's a really good aspect marie was pretty funny today that she said that if it's too inexpensive people don't yes and that's so so interesting too because that comes up when you're pricing your work as a maker as well write something about it being too cheap like and then you double the price and all of a sudden you're selling more like wow ee when you're on a product that I didn't think on the class it would do the same thing that's awesome susan maybe taken a valuable thing for me was, you know, kind of the same separating technique versus project in presenting it to a new venue like, I really like to teach here and how I present that someone so that it's really enticing. And secondly, and this would be a fabulous person to have in our workshop. Yeah, and it is so valuable to have heard from marie to write because didn't she say she's like, please, you know, contact me, right? Like you think you might be, they might be receiving all of these pitches from people, but they might not be right. They just might not be so don't let that stop you from from approaching potential venues, right? Um, did I get to everybody to share a takeaway? Do we have any from online, maybe or online people? I thought it was really valuable. Tio take the next step like you asked sandy davis and I will do another block post by rex wednesday eight no one else that I will put my lesson plan together by next thursday so I think that's been really valuable go and where one can share more about their find their discoveries on your virtual too that's, right? Yeah, I wantto make sure that we're all joining the virtual teachers answers this is obviously my website alphabet summer dot com and you can click over on the teacher's lounge and you can either click where it says here or you can click on that image and it will take you there and then I promise as soon as I can I will accept your request and then also say hello to me on social media I'm um I'm not I'm not like obsessed with social media, but I am on there a lot, so make sure you say hello um I'd really love tio hear from you on social media, but yeah, the teacherslounge is meant to be for you guys I'm obviously the moderator, but I also wanted to be there for you guys to connect with each other, okay, so don't don't be shy about asking a question to that group, so hopefully we'll get a lot of sort of discussion going on the facebook group, so yeah, awesome, I just wanted to say thank you to everybody, especially my in studio audience you guys have been so wonderful and I've appreciated all of your input, so I just want to say thank you and to think all of the online audience is, well, it's been wonderful. Yes, I'll joining one okay, thank you so much actually think amazing two days we have learned so much and if you've enjoyed the class I've loved tio encourage you to review us it's on the course pages, click review and give us some love, good, creative lives in love and ashley nichols, some love. Finally, I wanted to look at some of our comments that we had people just been really loving and being inspired by this course, electric bubble said. Since I've never taught before, I'm so much more confident, I feel like I know what to expect and how to proceed. I'll be teaching a class at the beginning of october, and I'm pumped about it. Thank you so much. Oh, I'm so happy, and red scorpion says the panel was great for pitch info, and ashley's templates will be super helpful for less than planning. Thanks, you guys, we've had a great day, thank you so much for joining us, and we'll see you next time I created live.

This was a very good class, well prepared and packed with such useful information! I've been teaching various arts and craft classes for over 10 years now and did it sort of instinctively. Ashley gave me the tools I needed to refine my classes and prepare really good classes outlines and how to find venues to teach and pitch my classes. That was awesome and I plan to watch it again and again because there is so much in it! This was a first class presentation! Thank you Ashley! Claude Aimée Villeneuve, Visual artist and teacher

I'm not even half way thru the online videos and want to recommend this class to anyone who just needs that extra boost to start their own classes! I like the fact that Ashley suggests that we think from a student perspective to help us to better plan. This class covers many things I have heard before BUT in greater detail. When I hear the 'WHY' of doing things, I'm more likely to follow thru. These videos explain many 'WHYs' (There are many informative sites/classes for this topic but not many people give you 'this is WHY' it should be done this way) Ashley gives the "WHY' and the 'HOW to'. If you want to teach and are mostly ready to teach, take this class and all the gaps will be filled in and you will be ready to go forth and teach your craft!

Great class -- watched live (most of it) and purchased for ongoing review. I've taught many things, including some crafts (decorating gourds, collage, making your own tarot-collages) but I gained new insights, ideas and confidence from Ashley's advice, the students questions and input, and the panel! I recommend this for anyone who wants to teach a class -- craft oriented, personal development, or anything else!
