Sewing the Zipper
So it's time now to so the bottom corners of our bag and I'm going to start with the outer fabric I'm going to slide my hand into this corner and I'm gonna finger press these seem allowances open like a book so I'm just going to kind of press on them so that they lay flat on the bottom edge and on the side edge there and then I can pull the corners apart so that the seams line up the side seem on the bottom scene and this is what I'm gonna pin in place along this raw edge here of the fabric I also like to make sure that my seem allowances don't get pushed in a way that I don't want them to so I'm going to put a pin in either side of this seem allowance to start out with to make sure they stay put and then I'll put a couple pins in so that the edges of my fabric stayed together this is going to be sown at my seem allowance my one centimeter or three eights of an inch line you want to make sure that all the rest of this fabric is out of the way and then exactly the same thing for the oth...
er corner on the other side here of my outer bag reaching inside finger pressing that steam allowance so stays a little bit more open and then pulling on the corners so the edges are even and my seems air lined up right on top of each other the side seam and the bottom edge seem a couple of pins stitch this edge some of my friends and pretty much the same thing happens for the bottom box corners on the lining fabric except for when we pull it and pin it and it's ready to be sewn we're going to stitch it at the half inch mark instead of the one centimeter mark this is going to pull the lining of the bag up from the bottom of the bag a little bit so you won't have the lining pooling at the bottom when you inserted in the last couple steps of the project so the same exact thing I'm going to open this seem allowance up a little give it a quick finger press on, then line this up to sew it I'm going to use a little bit of blue tape on my machine when I'm ready to sew on this machine it's a metric machine so it's really hard to see that half inch mark because that's imperial measurements and I really encourage you to use blue tape if you can't see your seem allowance because again that's what makes your project successful sewing things that the correct line a couple of pins, some blue tape same thing on the other side ready and those are the bottom corners of both my outer bag and my lining bag

This was such a fun class and I felt so confident once I finished the box zip bag! I just bought the class last week and I've already finished two larges. I had been wanting to learn how to sew a zipper for a while and this class was a perfect choice. I love the instructor, she's easy to follow and doesn't use weird, hard to understand terms. And she defines things that might be unknown. THANK YOU, SHAERIE!
