Activate Your Resources

Welcome back to fulfilling your creative purpose my name is andrey here a creative live to go into lesson twenty eight we did lesson twenty seven which we talked about not succeeding alone because we don't succeed alone and in less than twenty eight we're going to be talking about activating our resource is so get ready take some notes commit to some action even if it's a small action find yourself a mastermind partner find yourself a friend who will help hold you accountable and support you in this process we're getting to the end and if you haven't found somebody and you um invested in the course you can go to join artists who thrive dot com and you might be able to find someone there I know they have active google hangout um one thing I will say is, um don't share your dreams, your goals, your aspirations with a doubter or someone who's typically critical of you we're not supportive um you don't need to undermine your confidence, so just show them your I think craig swan since I jus...

t show them just show you could show everybody your hard work and your progress but don't share your dreams and your goals with people unless they're supportive unless they really have your back be really selective about that and if you don't have that person in your life I completely understand I've been in that place in my life and so the good news is there are other people looking for other supporters and resource is and you can find each other um so that's what I encouraged to do is tow partner to partner up all right, so if you're following along in the discovery journal um less than twenty eight is on page forty three um however, in the previous page which is page forty two we talked I talk about defining a smarter goal and I'm just gonna do a quick review of that because it's kind of hard to identify and activate your resource is unless you know to what end right? I'm just gonna do a brief overview of a smarter goal I'm going actually ask each one of the students here in the studio to serve as an example for you watching because they're all gonna actually create a smarter goal and then that's going when that one once they've identified they're smarter goal than the resource is that they need to activate are going to make more sense right? Like pay so fearless so you're going to plant a garden? Um no need to talk to an architect uh or a shoemaker right it comes to mind is maybe you know, someone who I don't know hiss and um non gmo seeds that you want to plant making this up but it's a kind of the logic or process so so just briefly a smarter goal is an acronym. So in another chapter in my life, my last job e I was a project management consultant so I'ma planing geek and a strategy geek and I love this stuff because you get things done when you know howto create a specific goal and build a plan and identify resource is and arrange the timeline so it's, I'm going to give you the going to give you the simple version, okay? So smart her rate so ask stands for specific goal has to be specific m is measurable a means you could take action on it mean, you can move on it today. Um, like if I said I want to be in a laugh olympic athlete from probably maybe I could, but maybe the smarter goal would be teo actually run a five k first on a regular basis before I, you know, take it up a notch so I could take action on that today our is its result, right? Is the result that you're actually deeply desire um tongue t is for time bound, meaning you're not goingto a task will take the time allotted meaning if you don't put a finish date on your goal, it'll just always be your goal and it'll never get done, and then e r is to evaluate that goal from time to time. And then revise it if necessary, not revise it because you're feeling lazy or revise it because you're feeling discouraged but revise it only if it makes logical sense. So does that make sense the smarter goal? It's really so it's a really, you know, um, deliberate definition of a goal? Most people don't achieve their goals, not because they're lazy or they're inapt or they're incapable, it's, because they just haven't been taught how to actually create a smart goal are smarter goal. So that said, um, what I would do is just if you're at home, I would experiment with this and think of a goal, and then we're going to talk about more deeply lesson twenty eight about activating resource is because we learned another lesson. You're not going to succeed by your own you're gonna need to help. All right? So, john, I'll start with you. So, um, I don't know why I always start with you, but I just do so, um, can you, uh, tell us the smarter goal that you are willing to commit, teo, that relates to building your creative enterprise and then let's, let's do a little critique of it, yeah, we're going to critique because I'm not very good at this. Well, it's okay, you're going to be good at it, you know? Well, that the end of this lesson, you're totally going to get it. I'm okay with sucking out all right? And so is everybody else and and it's good to suck it things that's why we're here because we all suck it things it's um it's on some level so I you know really you're only here because you don't know this stuff, so please don't beat yourself up because you don't know this stuff. Please don't beat yourself up because you don't know your purpose that's, why you're here, that's, why you're taking the course alright, so give it your best shot. I'm already stuck, but so one of one of the things I want to do, I'm just gonna talk through it and yeah, we can construct it is right now for monthly experiment there's all kinds of stuff on the website and all kinds of different experiments, and I wantto organize them in a way so that they're really so people can come to the site and easily choose an experiment that they want to take on. So let me stop you there, so the result you want is I want people to be able to choose an experiment, okay, you wouldn't be able to choose an experiment of what be amongst the content you've already done I mean in my mind I want to organize a library of these things okay, so that it's easy toe to choose but I don't know to turn that into a smarter goal. Okay, well let's help him out okay, so the result you want is you want people you want to take your existing content and make it easy for people to access which I'm sure everyone who's listened to this courses would appreciate because they're probably interested in what you're doing at least some people are interested in what you're doing so that's the result um so is it specific it's specific? Yeah is it measurable while you're there gonna have it done or not done right? So this comes up when people say I want to be rich and famous well, how we gonna measure I want to be happy and maybe successful you can't measure that it's subjective but this we can measure because you've either organized your content in a library or you haven't so it is measured so it is specific it is measurable is it actionable? Can you take action on it today if you wanted teo I was just writing things down when you called me yeah, okay, so it means that a bacteria the result we already covered you want people who want your content to be organized and easy to access fashion now the tea is time bound when do you want to complete this by um it's gonna take a little while I would give myself like two weeks okay and then later on you can you know you re evaluated revise it if necessary but let's just leave it is it's a smart that goal it's a smart goal if you're going to do it in two weeks now here is the point of the lesson right? So lesson twenty eight is about activating your resource is so and we already learned you can't succeed alone is there something about this particular goal that you could get help with and if you and where yeah, I could hire someone to I don't even know all the experiments I've done at this point so I could hire someone till I go read everything on my website and tell me what I've done so far okay and so what are some? So where some places you can actually make that higher um I already have someone who works for me so I'm just gonna have him do it okay? And when are you gonna do this by I'll email him today s o u the first actions first action was emailing today he milling today and give him clear direction and give him a deadline yeah right and okay, so you got yourself a particle good job jang that was easy easy peasy all right you guys getting it is that making sense I mean this is like seem simple but who does it I mean we don't want to do it all right we're gonna go in this direction so yoni uh what's a goal you would be really we'd really like to achieve I would like to be able to do my iphone ah graffiti workshops twice a month right now I'm doing them about once a month by the end of two thousand fifteen okay, so um what's the so that's we could measure it because you've either done it or not done it um it's it may its specific it's actionable maybe I don't know where you're at in the scheme of things what's the result that you want from the goal so this is key like why why do you want to do that? Why is that and to you I want to reach a wider or dance make more money um be more productive okay and so on do you want to do it by the end of two thousand fifteen the end of two thousand fifteen you want to be delivering to at least two a month at least to a month okay I'm sort of averaging one a month now okay, so what resource is do you have at your disposal for that can you can imagine that would help you actually fill two classes once a month I just need to do more marketing. I need to reach out to the let's be specific what specific marketing? Um, what specific marketing strategy could you activate today that would help move you towards this smarter goal I guess a calendar of you know, we talked about this in another lesson. Uh, I have a date set on every week for doing that well, what's this hey, what do you mean with the calendar? What does that mean? You mean it gets gradual dh marketing is scheduled to happen on it. So what's the marketing that you'll be doing so that you feel these workshops of paying customers uh, it's emailing following up with phone calls and sending out a packet so I hope you're, you know, write this stuff down because we're what we're doing right now is we're identifying a siri's of action steps that you're gonna have to take right? So, um, do you have your, um, email organized? Okay. All right, so just do some brainstorming. What else do you have to do to accomplish this goal? Some research on potential locations. Okay, some potential locations, I think that's the most difficult part because you already have already have one location, right? I have several. Okay, so then you just do you why do you need more, um because I can only do it maybe twice a year in each of those I think and so I need to find more locations that okay so you need to activate your resource is and find out about other venues so are there people in your personal network who might be able to help you um identify venues yes actually somebody to people just recently told me about suggestions so can you write that down you're gonna follow up with them they were breaking this down um I've I've taught at uc berkeley ranch a little for a task room is that what you need sometimes their classroom sometimes there corporate offices with like a conference room any seats do you need it? It depends on what the client wants I mean it's anywhere from ten years of aussie you what do you want? I want to do it with twenty five people that's my ideal but I've done it with us muchas fifty in a room so I would this dynamic changes though I would suggest that you decide the ideal number so that you could be of best you can be a moat most service to a certain number usually write a certain format and you decide what that isthe because that's going to determine the venues that are available to you and shoot for that number you can always change it but if you know you want a certain number go for that a lot of times the venue's air really flexible you know it's a room that you can have fifty and or ten or eighty so if you'd had one for a dozen I know venue in cinema county there we go okay you just mentioned it out loud I've got somebody chime in in offering resource is this how you do it really simple I happen to have a classroom okay so you two are going to talk later we'll talk all right we're definitely gonna talk so you have a specific you have something specific you want accomplish we can measure it you could take action on it you've actually just taken action on it right here right now the result isthe you're just increase the volume of business that you d'oh which is something you want and okay great it's time bound to you get it you see how when you hone in on the goal the resource is start to come they they start to show up either in your mind or in somebody else's mind who's supporting you this this is how you do it really simple I know wait a second I know so and so let me introduce you to so and so or have you thought about this but it's really hard to make suggestions if there's no specific goal to accomplish this why this is a two part equation alright jen what's your what's a goal you would like to accomplish um so by the end of january, I'd like to start interviewing like three people I know who have made substantial changes in their life just to get data about what that's like and interview people and just kind of changes because we could make all sorts of changes. So t be specific about the changes that you want to explore in an interview. Yes, so they've come from a really, um, like what? So they've come from a really difficult place, and they've taken care of themselves. What is a difficult place mean, being more specific were specific is a difficult place could be they came from warrior famine could be that they came from and abuse what a childhood it could be that who knows? I mean, what does that mean? Be specific? So okay, so I feel alright, so, like from, uh, I'd say relationship traumatic relationship experiences that's still pretty broad. I'm gonna want you to focus. Okay, I'd say all right, traumatic what's. What yet? Let me put it to you this way, jen what's. Most interesting what's of most interest to you, what's fast, what's fascinating to you. What specific topic? When so, health like health really specific, um, your own, like your own my health, like the fact that ah, what's really fascinating to me is personal transformation when people have taken themselves from a place of whether it doesn't matter if it's psychological or spiritually or physical cause I feel it's all connected, but they've taken themselves from a place of, you know, overcoming something, and now they're in a trance forms place, and I want to hear that story you think I wanted, and I want to learn a little bit about what they did and how they did it and where they were, what caused that and that's what caused them to change, and then what is the change? Like, where is it now? Okay, so I would still encourage you to be more specific because there's, like olympic athletes, overcome big obstacles to gain optimal performance. They're people who overcome, uh, you know, maybe they were a burn victim. I mean, I think what I want you to do is embrace what you are, what what go back to your purpose and be specific is you can, in terms of, you know, relating because you can't relate to everybody's, change your obstacles, but you can relate to those that you yourself maybe have experienced, right and that's where your power lies and that's where your passionate interest lies, so I would suggest so three interviewing three people I think that's that's a great your that's good you've have targeted that you want three interview three people I'm just going to suggest that you get more specific about a common theme and then by the end of the month did you say yeah I'm going to get through okay so so because it's just a interview like just say so you just went to the interview I want to get dada wanted in fact I feel like actually what you and I are kind of going back and forth now that will help me get there because when I start talking to people in interviewing them with that mindset I'll be like oh you know what I really want to know and that will help me get there ok so these air just exploratory thinners youse all right? Gotcha I understand now all right, so grapes they're going to pick three people and who are most interesting to you and then you'll evolve your you'll feel a velvet is that right? Yeah. Okay, fine. All right. I got three people by the end of this month so it's specific it's measurable you've ever done it or you haven't done it is it something you could take action on today? Okay, great well what's the result you want from this so the result I want from that is one for me to get a a lot clearer about okay so actually what are they like what do I specifically want to be talking to people about like what is the theme on what do you fascinated by one of my fascinated by yeah and then also front maybe let's say from three like I'll have one topic that I want to write about okay and then then we've got a time this time balance to get yourself a smart goal okay great see how do you see how this works? You get goals now all right don and I have had this debate about goals and habits for a while it's kind of inside joke but so what people are but to make it an outside job people argue it so it's all about just having good habit listen some people argue a so it's all about having well defined goals and I'm I'm of the mindset that it's both you need both all right cathy smarter goal um to take what I do into video ultimately tv demonstrating craft projects so specific measurable actionable result and time bound so first of all let's start with the result that you want what why in the hell do you want to do that? Why? Because what I teach is best that's the best avenue for actually demonstrating how to make something that's this medium the best medium yes ok alright so thats the result you want then is you win it improve the quality of your communication around howto build craft certain crafts that's right ok murray that's a good result grey and it reached possibly reach a greater audience is what you said specific I think so no okay so let me help you out but what if you did three videos five minutes in length I'm making that up but you see how I'm being specific you could just thought you could put whatever number you want in there but if you said something like I want to make three videos five minutes in length about this this and this by the end of this month you got yourself a smarter goal and the reason I want to do it is because uh I want to build a library of more um useful content in video format I'm in a funny place with this particular question in this particular timing because once I started and committed to this thirty day program simultaneously this type of thing kind of I had been hoping for this hoping for what he's doing teaching on video and I was actually presented an opportunity to do it okay so today I actually got a contract to sign okay so I'm kind of it's all coming together for me exactly so I'm just kind of going for what you wish for I know so it's already a little bit of a stat and established it would happen all by march. Okay so you have to be more specific and deliberate it is the contract delineate how many pieces of video you have hit us it has all that broken down okay well sounds like the contract has got your smarter goal embedded in it yeah is that right? Yeah. Okay so what the best thing for you to do is to now find activate your resource is right so who's going to help you create quality video mentors who are they? The first one I think of his robert mahar who's actually been a creative live instructor okay um and he does that he is a nice history can you reach out to him today to see about having him help you? I can't. Okay. So so the specific goal is it specifically to meet the content requirements of your contract it's measurable because you've got it done or you didn't get it done it's actual because you could start moving on it today you could reach out to this a person who is a resource and who knows about is expert in this field the result is you want to we need the obligation of your contract and you also want it create richer content for your audience and it's time bound because the contract is giving you a timeframe okay so that's a smarter goal but remember what you said in the beginning was I want to make the senate was sort of wide open but I know when you, when we frame it in such a specific way, doesn't it seem more doable? Oh, yeah, like your head kind of spins when you create this goal outside of this format, like I'm leaving home and accomplish this, and I probably would still be spending if I didn't. Already. If the's weren't just kind of happening right now, in this moment, I would I would probably have to be more specific, like you said with the five, you know, smaller snippets, something that's, a little bit more actionable for me. Well, you're being forced to be specific with this contract, so but you've got this great about a resource. Someone who used to be was a instructor on creative, live, that's, great. So that's, top notch and resource. Okay, and you're gonna call him today or email on today? Yeah, and another, I think, is, um I mean, I might be jumping ahead, but you get one. Yeah. Okay. We'll go with that that's. What you're doing more than one goal. There's also other creative life things. I think on speaking, I would really liketo watch that. Could help me. Was that's another but public speaking. So just that's another goal. Okay, well, that might have been may be the one to start with this public's. Well, all we're doing here is we're just demonstrating how to define a smarter goal. And then how to activate resource is so that's. All this was was a little vignette. We've got your goal to meet this contractual obligation. And then you resource you identified is this, um, person who is a creative live instructor, right? Right. Right. Jenny of resource is available to you. Do you have the three people you want interview or do you need introductions? What resources are you going to activate to make this goal must smash it. I actually going to start with people. I know. That was suggested to me yesterday. By jonathan, like, start talking to people that you know, interviews. Right? You start he's, right? And jonathan is and he's amazing. So listen him ok so that that's my smart home by the end of the month yes he's he knows what he's talking about you definitely won't listen to jonathan ok? I asked him and he said start with people you know do it that way and just see where ko's and see what lights you up and then at the end of it revised look okay, okay, this is yeah, I like that so he used the word see what lights you up what I said it's like see what fascinates you got it once I finally okay, here we go. All right, yunis got a resource john's got a resource he's going to activate okay, felix smarter goal no doesn't need to have someone to contact for re sort of workshop it what do you wait? But I want to know what do you want to accomplish? I would love to write, okay? And I started out I broke it down right at the end of each workday just a little bit about the day and maybe a highlight of something that touched me or something that I saw was touching and then and then a blogger for the end of the week. Okay, so I'm gonna ropey in here gonna get pulled the phone fine it's all good, all right, we're gonna make it smarter all right? We're gonna make it smarter. So what's the result. What do you want? Why do why do you even want this in the first place? I want to get that book done. Why? I want to reach more people. So there's. An embedded assumption that a book we'll help you reach more people. But a book is not the only way to do it, right? Right. I'm not write a book right now, rachel. Much people. The other thing was video. Okay, online videos. So you have a new friend over here? Yes, and we spoke. Okay, so about my website, he's, I'm gonna activate this resource. So he's helped authors content creators monetize, right? You know, felix, now you know what he's about, uh, what's your again? You could just ignore him or we can take. We can hear what you have to say about this. Should be writing for thirty minutes a day shouldn't be doing video. Would you suggest you d'oh? I think he should decide on one specific outcome that he wants to help other people accomplish and then outline how you're going to help them accomplish that, and that will that will be your content creation map. Brilliant what's given example of a specific outcome that felix is likely or could likely produce I mean I could let felix safe but based on my conversations with him learning how to listen to you intuition it's not a very specific outcome but it's an outcome that feeling help people he could teach people a protocol to listen to their intuition just like george pratt dr george pratt taught us some protocols right now I need you to listen to you would probably be able to verbalize this better but let me just throw this out there felix what if you did what if you designed based on your existing experience a little um I don't know three step process because you know I like three yes you do e come on three step closer today your psychic um anyway uh so three alright, so yeah so three oh, it was just pretend and again I'm only giving you do whatever you want just give me an example of how to take what you said and breaking china smarter goal so what if for example you created three step protocol you already teach people right? And um you did a video recording of it of yourself delivering like you already d'oh and then maybe you had it transcribed and I know john know someone who can help you transcription take the video content and have it transcribed um for not a whole lot of money and probably also edited and then you got the start of your book and you got the start of your video course. I like it. We just killed two birds with one stone. Thank you, because we got smart and we activated a resource on the couch over here. So, again, like it's, not like it helps to have these experts, it helps to have people who will, like you just offered graciously, you're, uh, space. Teo, yoni, how nice is that? Look at that, see, resource, you know where these resource is gonna come from. You never know. Alright, so that is lesson number twenty eight. Activating your resource is and now were going toe lesson twenty nine, which is stepping in to your own power. Lesson. Twenty nine.

I think this course is extremely helpful if you follow her steps and do the work. This course can go through some very intense emotional moments, but it is all towards the greater goal of refocusing you and helping you find your meaning and purpose and most importantly, taking action on that to help others. I had many breakthroughs, but one of the areas that most helped me was to be patient with the process and give yourself the emotional payoff along the journey towards your long term goals. There is a lot of psychology in this course and it is necessary to tie your emotions into the actionable steps to get you past your struggles and focused on what is really truly important to you. I highly recommend this course if you want to get unstuck, want a road map to making a living as an artist from where you are today, and want to fulfill the best life that you can achieve.

“Like all worthwhile pursuits, you will get out of this what you put into it” Ann Rea. I am having a positive life changing experience thanks to this class. Now, I am able to identify much more clearly that my hobby was only fulfilling me and was not providing a service to anyone, therefore it was not allowing me to obtain the financial success that I am after. I expect to continue to mature during this class. I want to thank you, Creativelive and Ann Rea for creating content that will allow us to grow and possibly succeed in life.

I'm so grateful to be a part of this transformational course. I've gotten so much out of it already, and my vision for my creative enterprise has never been more clear. My thinking and vision have become much bigger, as well. I can see so clearly how to use my creative talents to create a profitable business that I can work in with passion and integrity.
