How to Price Your New Book

Now let's talk about pricing. So, on the ebook pricing page, the first thing is the KDP select enrollment. I highly recommend enrolling in this. It allows you to reach more readers and make more money. It adds your book to that membership pool where you get paid per page read. Basically. So anyone that has a kindle unlimited account can re access your book for free as part of their membership. But then you get paid a royalty. If, if you get, if it gets read, it also gives you those marketing abilities to promote your book for free, have a price countdown and that's how we're going to launch our book. And I'll talk about that in the marketing video coming up. So I would highly recommend that next you have territories. Unless you have a specific reason, you don't want your book in a specific country or territory, select all territories, the primary marketplace. Amazon dot com. Unless you have another Amazon. Uh If you're in one of these other marketplaces, primarily, you would select one...

of those, then we have pricing and this can look a little confusing, but it'll make sense in just a minute. You have an option of keeping 35% or 70% of your royalties. And you might be like, well, why would I want 35%? And the reason is because it gives you the option to charge higher. So you can see that the price can be between 199 and $200. And then for the 70% it's 299 to 999. I recommend this price point. I think it's works well. So say I want to sell my book for the lowest option for 70%. I would make a dollar 60 at the 70% royalty. There is a fee that comes with this in this price point. There's no fee for the 35%. But, and you can see you're at the same price 0. 99 at 35%. You're making a dollar 05. Say you want the cheapest price out there though at a dollar which isn't available for the 70%. Then you make 70 cents per sale 299 versus 199. The only reason to do 199 is if you're really conscious about wanting to compete on price, but I feel like two versus $3 really isn't much of a difference for a lot of people. So why not just bump it up to 299 and make an extra dollar per sale? Basically. Of course, if you think your content in your book is worth more than $10. Then you'll have to use the 35% fee uh rate, but then you could charge more than 999 and all of this is converted to other currencies automatically for you. And the other thing to note is this can be changed later later on. So I feel like at the beginning you might as well use price as a factor to compete with the other books on Amazon and choose a lower price here. Let's see, you can see the other landscape photography books out there and the ones that are not sponsored the top selling 1267 21 22 4 49. So these are higher price books. And so if you come out with a great book, that's you can start competing based off of price. Once you do all that, you select your price, you're going to click the publish your Kindle ebook button, then you're gonna get an email that says it's been submitted and then within 24 to 72 hours or so, you'll get an email back and it will either be published or it will have some sort of error. Maybe your title wasn't on your cover image. There might be errors in the book formatting issues. But if you followed the steps so far, you should be good to go and it should be published and once your book is published, you can go back to your book she shelf and it will have the links to the Amazon page and this is the page that you would send to anyone to download your book. So here we have for our case study book view on Amazon and you have all the different marketplaces and something to note that I found is that if you send the US one. So if you're in the US right now or in any country, and if you're promoting it to a worldwide audience, if you send the US link, it might not work. So you have to either tell people to search for the title of your book and your name for it to show up or send them the individual links for their country for their marketplace. So that's pretty much it. Now, I hope you've been following along. If you've been actually doing the work following along, then wait till you get published and we're gonna talk about marketing. We're also going to talk about converting your book to hardback or paperback relatively easily with like a couple of clicks of a button coming up in the next videos. So stay tuned and we'll talk about marketing next.

I have been using ChatGPT since early this year and love it, but there's always more to learn to pass along to clients. What a great, practical class with cookbook like instructions for getting set up and using it on various platforms. Funny enough, I was uploading art I created in AI and doctored up in photoshop while I was listening :) Well done!
