Basic Formatting in Google Docs
So you have your book outline, you have then gone through Chat GP T and asked it to write out each chapter for the book. And now we're going to take all of those chapters and format them using Google Docs. You can use the Microsoft Word. You could use uh another text editor, but Google Docs is nice. Keeps everything organized. It's on the cloud. So here, let me show you the final version of the initial landscape photography book that I have. And now this is taken from my course. And so it makes it even that much more personalized in terms of the content, the outline of the book, the chapters and everything I've already gone through. I've added the screenshots from the course itself that were notated in the transcript or in the chapter. So here you can kind of get a sense of what that looks like. And some of these ones with the slides, I'm gonna take out the slides itself and just add the photos for this. So what you're going to get from Chat GP T is you could go through and do the enti...
re book and then what I found is you can actually select all the best way to just select everything is just command A or control A. If you're on a PC and then copying that or if you want to do this while it's running, you can actually just, just copy the individual chapters, you can work on this while it's doing another prompt for the next chapter and then paste it as you saw in earlier. Uh There is this background that is created when you paste from chat GP T. So what we can do is go to format clear formatting and then what I do and this is totally up to you. And this is not going to be necessary for the Kindle Ebook. But if you want to make a PDF version to make it look nice, you can adjust the line spacing to chapter to 1.5. You could also add a space after the paragraphs. This just starts to make things look a little bit nicer. The other thing you want to do, which will help uh organize it in the Kindle book is, and you'll see this later on is make all of the chapter headings um or the chapter titles into headings. So here I'm going to highlight that text and under the text option, I'm going to choose heading. I'm also going to actually just delete the chapter title I don't or the chapter one text. I don't need that. Um It's going to be in broken down in the Kindle Ebook automatically. And then I would just repeat that for every chapter at the end of the chapter. I would do a sh uh it's a command, enter to add a new page and then paste the next chapter. Or if you were just copying all the chapters. Once you were done in chat GP T you would have to format each chapter separately at once and that's what you want. You want a final sort of text that looks like this. And from here we're going to download it and then we're going to be open it up in the Kindle editor. But before we do that in the next lesson, I'm going to walk through how you sign up for KDP Kindle Direct Publishing and how to start your book over there.
