Tracks and the Mixer Window
Besides being the track control panel, which is this is, There's a mixer, so go ahead of you and we choose mixer and this is what our mix it looks like. We just make it a lot bigger. Screen is not very big. We just change the layout of the mixer. You have different layouts for every mixer or every track control panel. In fact, let's check that out first. If you go back here, this track control panel can look completely different. We keep the right, click it and go down here to track layout, Go to track control panel and you could choose different layouts for each track so I could change this one to a meter. We have a big meter right here. So if you recording something, it's a lot easier to see the meter. Let's change that back to my large one. Let's go back to the mixer, which would go to by hitting command them on the Mac or control em on the PC. And again we could change all those key commands. That's just the default. 're gonna change that layout under mixer paddle. We will choose the default, which looks like this, and we could make this part a little bigger right here, which is short inserts are plug ins sends going to different tracks, create buses, and we have bigger favors here to work with. It's really easy to mix with this and most everything we want. Excuse me most everything else we want. It just could be just in the mixer as well as the track control panel. But you can do most of it right here. Just the feeder is just a little harder to work with on the keys, right click to adjust it and fine tuning like this. We're using a mouse wheel just with the mouse wheel over it. Could you find to an adjustment for that with a pan? So that's our mixer aside. Mention before we do a track heightened with with page up and page down for height. You could just the with of the tracks right here, get close enough. It was kind of cool about this is when you're doing editing and you won't have a full screen of just our items. You could pull it all way over to the left like this now, the entire screens just reading. I think I want to show you. If I bring a loop into the track that's not the same tempo. Weaken just that as well. That's, for instance, is to get rid of the drums. What's bringing a different drum loop. Let's bring in a different drum loop. Let's bring in Drummed up to place it right here. If we play this, it's not the same tempo. Well, if snapping turned on go over here holding option on the Mac Old on the PC and just drag it out the next bar right there. It should playing time with song. Now, by the fault, every item is gonna loop. So if I go over here, trim and pull it out, it loops this little ridge right here. That's the loop point. The item is actually this big, but by pulling it out, we could do but longer do the same with these and these. The point is right over here and colluding on both sides. So if I want to put out over here left side, we get a pick up. It's pretty cool feature. Now we do with editing. We wanted to select certain things. So go up the top here. You can select from here to here and then choose this area here to cut it. And we're just cutting. Excuse me? We want to cut this way. They were just cutting in the time selection. So I want to paste over here paste. Just that piece that we caught is now pasted instead of the whole item, We could use time selection for looping. So let's go here and loop from here to here. Go down to this button right here and now it's gonna look, which is good for Luke recording. We're just playing back a section over and over again, obviously.

Outstanding teacher. Kenny is by far the best of the Reaper instructor, and there are many good ones out there. He uses very understandable examples and presents in a fashion that the novice and expert can learn from. Great job Kenny.

Mr. Gioia's "Kenny Mania" channel on YouTube has always been a TERRIFIC resource for my beginning to learn REAPER. That being said, his unique speech patterns always got old really quick. It's nothing against him, just a personal tick. Thankfully, Kenny is in top form during this course, and this is one of the most useful and feature-packed CL courses I've seen. Unless you're an absolute expert in REAPER already, there's plenty of information here to get you into becoming more familiar with my favorite DAW.
