Q&A with Devin and Amy Porterfield
One of the questions that just came in can you talk about e commerce use as facebook ads if you're selling products like t shirts, handbags, physical products which devon actually might be good um okay, so amy talked a little bit about offering a discount which works what we do for customary threads we one re run a lot of news feed ads before we run sales we run a sale probably once once a month or once every two months and what we will do we don't position it like go buy our stuff we do it before the sale, so basically we treat our email list like our viper member so way say sign up way have a sale coming up sign up for our v I p list really into early access so there's a benefits you're not just trying to drive traffic directly to a product page to try and get the sale because remember, we have to go through a war up process so you want them tio be signing up for something that's just been clearly beneficial to them discount and early access and we're getting the lead in the process ...
beforehand, which is a critical critical step, especially in e commerce in not just dumping them on a product page, crossing your fingers hoping they buy, especially when you're paying for traffic s o that's really important step and we've seen success with that uh and then what I love about custom audiences like you said uploading your email is to facebook is during that sale we'll upload that list and run ads to just that e mail list and because they signed up already they're expecting it and I think oh this makes sense that I'm seeing it now so that connections important so pre sale getting trying to get people to sign up for this early access list that we have a discount sale coming up and we run that two people that are currently on her email list or fans of our page we target neither our competitors or people that are in you know, like fan pages of you know where our audience might be online and then during the sale is when we upload that email list and targ our fans as well let them know a sales going on you have access to it in addition to emailing that list so that really works well for commerce here commerce guy you guys air a dynamo dio so um natalie hickson anyone do I always want to get uh the biggest reach some of my key words bring up over a million plus reaches that realistic will my ad really be seen by that many people? So I tend to teach facebook ads to beginner so that's where I start out with these more manageable numbers however you've had great success going over the million mark I have but in very few cases you have to really not be specific I don't recommend people start there you want and you want to get more specific even you know down teo kind of kappa get almost two hundred thousand your first trial because I build a bunch of different campaigns and this will make more sense when you get into the power that are about what a campaign is to figure that out and and I kind of just break into smaller groups and then once it's proven toe work all kind of expand on and grow from there once it's kind of proof of concept but you want to start narrow where because your clicks will be cheaper and you'll be able to measure and a lot more and better scale and then you can scale up from there once you know that targeting is working perfect so for natalie she wants to take that million and see if she can chunk that out into smaller campaigns yeah and I definitely try and chunk it down using more precise targeting that can target the relationship status so you know if they're married to be specific since you guys run financial planning our budgeting two married couples and especially if the ad had a female tone to it target just women target certain age group especially if maybe natalie is the one doing the video or and on the picture married females of her age group and that way that we relate notice someone that's kind of like speaking directly to them from a person that's very closely on this I should help narrow down the targeting a lot yes that's great I you know yesterday you talked about chungking and you're using animal er strategies with all of the task that you take on so really great um the posture guy has a question and we're seeing questions related to this pop up over and over and regards tio likes followers, fans lists and the amount that you have so the posture guy says amy I'm totally I totally agree with you that quality fans are always better than quantity of fans that said what do you think about using services like favor to buy likes in order to improve people's first impression of you when they first look to see how many fans followers likes etcetera et you have no no none enough so we are not a fan of fiber because of the fact that you're going to get a bunch of people that could care less about your brand what you're selling or ever if you even post one time what happens is you have a thousand people that you paid for to get those legs the next time you post they will not engage with you in facebook will never show your post to anybody in the news feed so do not do that and plus you get more spam yeah, it's not worth it like they're just trying to accomplish vanity metric just so oh, it looks like we have fans don't don't worry about that and start with amy's first step where she talked about targeting people on how it was a page post expelled page post like special stories like a sponsored story. Just start with that as your first step when you're trying to go from zero fans to just your first hundred just don't even don't buy fans it's just it's a waste and it's not a business project. You want to go down? Yeah, grace, we're clearing that up. You know you're going back to that whole saving money money in your piggy bank. Devon, what do we have to look forward to when we come back? We have a very exciting session before we go to break. I want to say really fast. This is definitely in a advanced strategy for paying traffic and I know I gave a prerequisite at the beginning of this talk. You have to have certain key things in place before you ever get into ads buying, so don't get all excited because this is glittery and you see the op opportunity here, you have to have an efficient, clean and well designed website and lead source generator in place. Before you ever worry about paying paying for ads, so don't get all excited and jump into this before it's too early, you've got to do it the right time in your business, but this workshop we want something for everybody so there's going to be super beginners that don't need to pay attention to this yet that's why they should buy the recordings because they'll get there, but that need to be paying more attention to their website design and how to get email upton's before they start paying for ads. But then there's advanced people better at this stage. This will be extremely relevant to us after the break. We're going to talk about just that. How would be coming up with your lead source magnet to be turning lookie loos in tow, warm lead so the reason people should be, uh, opting into your email is creating that exciting offer the people I want that I'm going to give my contact information in exchange for this free gift or this free training webinar, we'll be talking about the tools in the software that we use in our businesses, both e commerce and service based businesses so that's coming up after the break so fuel up, let me give you some fuel. His advice is both for webshop companies aswell for small entrepreneurs. I like the are so many examples (site makeovers).
