Class Introduction
Hey, guys. My name is Dirk Dallas. I'm the Founder of fromwhereidrone.com, which is one of the first drone websites to help photographers and videographers create better aerial imagery. And I'm here today to talk to you about drones. So I'm an FAA commercial pilot. And I've been on various shoots, and I wanna share with you some of my favorite tips, some of my favorite techniques, to help you capture better aerial imagery from the air. So I have some of my favorite drones on the table. I have a DJI Phantom, I have a DJI Mavic Pro, and I have a DJI Mavic Air. I'm mostly gonna focus on the Phantom, but that means that you can still follow along. A lot of the settings are still the same. It's really gonna be about the concepts and the principles, the ideas behind what I'm doing that matters. So don't get too worried about which drone I'm using. So this is an advanced class. This is not for beginners. This already assumes that you know how to fly, that you're fairly comfortable with your d...
rone. You just need help figuring out what are the exact settings that filmmakers use to capture all their aerial videos. Those ones that you see on YouTube and Vimeo that blow your mind. Alright, so my drones are ready to go. Before we even get in the air though, I'm gonna walk you through some settings that I use to make sure we're all dialed in. Once those are set, we'll power on the drone, take it up, capture some shots. I hope you guys join me.

There was some good and helpful information here! However he stated that when shooting video he sets the camera focus on a stationary subject and then put it in manual mode so as to avoid the camera re-focusing on a different plane, but I would have liked to have heard his tips for camera focusing on his shots where the subject was moving toward or away from the camera.
