Shoot: Chinese Fans with Katie
Let's just have kitty patootie over here in this awesome outfit all right, so everybody let's collaborate causes how usually make decisions like okay, we got this outfit what does it go best in we pretty much can light anything in two seconds right now we shot all over everywhere. This is so adorable we've got these fans is just like a dancing because you get dance shoes on doing dance what they do with these fans but this is not a costume, okay? Not that I would know the difference but already so I'm thinking gosh, I love this chinese red maybe with that green couch I'm feeling that should we do brick wall or this wall you brick wall yeah all right let's do it. Yeah, very retro and fun. And then in the meantime, um are lovely I'm loving the hat thing you've got going on yours if you look off and this is so slinky are we able to like hello? Do you have stockings we can put on that are met match this net underneath. So just so you are able to put up a leg and it's net that matches your ...
net hat? Yeah awesome and then back sweet and I think we'll do her against this wall or that little tiny distressed wall that we started with originally yes, because we'll be a few minutes sweet christa may I ask you a quick question yeah in regards of people saw that you switched your lens could you go over your lens and your camera settings one martin yes of course so I ended on I didn't change my settings the whole first portion when I was shooting with the twenty four seventy um I'm shooting at one hundred s o which I always shoot one among the strobes and won and when one twenty fifth pretty much the speed that I have to shoot at to make it work with the strobes and at a two point eight and I went down to that um I didn't open it up because I didn't want to bother changing my setting so if I went down to two point oh it would have been way bright and want to futz around and figure out what exposure so I just said you know two point eight is still sexy aperture so setting so I stuck with that um that's pretty much it oh my goodness you guys set things up so fast so we're going to remove the pillow because that's way too many colors and probably that uh what you might call it thing blanket because this is so dramatic that story for me here is about the color so let's show me what you do with the fan norm fans normally okay awesome so anything we can do lying down to really um play with the horizontal lines suite oh, the lens yeah, I'd like him I think I could do the fifty it was a nice shooting are curvy model with the fifty margarita okay let's do that sweet yeah, this is such a hard couch to shoot on even for short people like so I get it so let's try may be you know, doing him down that way would be a better option. Yeah last I kind of like drama of this and quit these kind of always want yeah, I want to be you see, I wonder if doing just the red we'll stick with this side besides hot so just dramatic and um horizontal I get such a good beauty sure we'll do. We'll do a bunch of troy sold eight hundred mostro anymore. Yeah, but we have the video line on can we put that on? Oh, it is on okay, awesome. One twenty two my date let's see if this works yeah, we've got stuff in the frame all the way up there that we could move over but uh I mean, I can crop into this so that's fun and that, um plug can that be unplugged now awesome watch the whole feed goes down we're unplugging something all right? So let's do some fun stuff here I loved that post let's do it one more time before we move on we're good. Okay, john tilt so I see that fan more perfect that's exactly right. Beautiful. Thanks, john. Okay, we're just gonna have to clean things up a little bit excellent. So you've got really kind of like a forties pit up situation happening here so let's do another pose. You do great fan work. I just want to let you know. Okay? Awesome. Can you look down a little bit let's do it like that. Perfect. And because these girls are pin curled up, by the way, it's the only time I wouldn't use a fan if there's like a forty style and the wave needs to be exactly like that. And we're not going with the fan, so this is probably the only time you'll see me not working with the fan. Okay, can we do something where you're standing with them? Can you stand on the couch? Even maybe can you can you sit on? Sorry, can you sit on one of the side so your feet or on the couch and up traumatic? Yeah, I think you're good. So I think if you do okay, let's, do something with them up high. Do you ever do that? Uh, yeah, this sort of do everything with one side facing out it's just a matter of remembering how my hands can do okay, you can switch it up. One could be and one could be out. They don't both. You could do however you normally work with thes. I'm totally fine with it. That's. Cool that. Look down that way. Excellent. I want to do something different with your legs, either put them both together and do a pinup e thing with them straight. Okay. And now swoop one arm down like your left arm on the autumn should stay there. Ok? And then look over your left shoulder, turn you head that way. Ok? And down a little bit. Beautiful, like you're looking at your butt. Ah, awesome. Excellent. How many times if you heard me say that this weekend? Look at your butt and like it. All right, let's, stand up with some authority. Yeah, why not? Yeah. See something super straight on dramatic with these new love papa hip for me. Excellent. Love the cleavage happening too. By the way, hold on. Excellent. Can you move the other way with your head? Yeah, try that. Eyes down. Okay, turn around the other way closer. Look, look, hold on a second. Yes, but, uh, they say, can we drop them down like I'm going to get in front of you so you can can we drop them down like this? So it's just like the fan coming about your butt and I'm just gonna give you a wedge again is that ok even though these are kind of not the wedge type underwear the boy I know what I'm not going to go nuts of it just a little bit can you pop one hip there we go that's got sassy um so raising a little touch so I don't see your head perfect down a little bit but perfect okay, now I want you to lower him so I can peek um you can peek out over them at me if you can do what you need to keep going to find a natural way to do it okay yeah kind of hard you can change your that's good yeah, I want to do that and give me a little shoulder make that work looks a little awkward you can change your hand position if you need teo this was you know kind of flirt with me over your shoulder that that's good yes, but let me do this I'm trying to get butt and I don't know yeah and that also any seizure I dip your head down a little perfect, huh excellent ok, look down first, ok and then look at me smile with your eyes okay? I'm happy staying right there though, okay, you can move a car we're um that was so much fun those fans let's do some close ups and stuff no keep um interesting I love this color let's get down in here maybe you can lay down a little bit that's good you should just do one maybe you can pull your strap down it could look like you're not wearing anything except you know just go ahead I can hold this in front of you if you want but yeah I like this look that way yeah that's awesome who sorry okay already okay hold it above her face yeah look at me you know fall actually split the difference yeah no uh less right there and look at me love it smiles euros excellent smile more that's like not okay and then um when you get your hands by your face with the fan maybe you can hold it a different way yeah I liked that do something different with your legs I like if you tried to hide behind it your whole body your news oh hold on a second john I got this thanks where's the other family so I'm looking for you all right? Oh that's super cute actually I love that little thing just yeah so see booty I see your cute little face hide your nose a little ok lift up a tiny bit because your bangs were blocking the light perfect perfect just lifted up a tiny bit the fan a perfect, saucy love your legs in this. Can we turn it the other way? Yeah, yeah, I want to see that booty perfect, then put your hand back beautiful, but then look down here, okay, okay, awesome, beautiful. I think we're good. Thank you.

This is meant to be a HELPFUL review for those that are wondering if they should purchase this workshop. About 75% of what I took away from this workshop was posing, composition for boudoir and the importance of eye lines and capturing movement. I had two boudoir sessions a week after this workshop and my images significantly improved. I was able to coach my clients through poses better, direct them on where to look for better eye lines, I was more aware of their posture and how to fix it, I think I sounded more professional and felt more confidant with getting awesome poses, stand out expressions and adding movement to my images. I put a fan on my client the way Christa does.. and she is right! The instant I put the fan on my client, her expression changed and you could tell she was really "feeling it". She told me she felt like a real supermodel right after I turned on the fan. If you are looking for inspiration on how to coach women and pose for boudoir then Christa is the girl for you. I think the most worthwhile thing I learned watching this is something that will help me in the years to come... with my brand, my website, my workflow and my business goals. I learned how to "keep it simple" which is Christa's tag line. For example Christa brings a roll of gray background paper and uses gaffer tape to hang it from the wall of the hotel (instead of bringing a 12ft background stand). I know this seems simple but this will change my life! I hate dragging equipment back and forth. There are some negative reviews on here about Christa's technical skills, but I think these people may have missed the whole point. If you provide an awesome product and an awesome experience for your client, they will buy it. And guess what.. your client will never know if you used your camera in auto or manual and they won't care if you used one light instead of two. As someone who has been in business for 3 years doing boudoir exclusively I learned a lot. I see a lot of value in learning from someone who doesn't spend a lot of money on fancy equipment, yet charges her clients over $3,000 for sessions. I'm a huge fan of her keep it simple philosophy and I'm glad Christa is willing to be honest about her workflow and how she best utilizes her time. Your not going to agree with or use everything Christa talks about, you take the parts that you like and are most helpful to you and work them into building a stronger business.

AWESOME DEAL on Christa's course. I just sent an email to my husband to tell him thanks for "gifting" me this course. I told him just the ONE CLASS about pricing was worth the full $129 price of the course. And there are over 50 classes?! That is a crazy stupid good deal. You can learn something good from every class you take, every book you read, and just apply the stuff that works for you. There are a lot of people out there who seem to just enjoy giving crappy reviews, and to me it's almost like bullying. How someone could not find $129 worth of value in this course is beyond me. In my opinion this course is worth over a thousand bucks, because it can help you make SO much more money. I hate when I see people whining about things that are not 100 percent perfect, and they get annoyed if the person isn't catering to their exact needs. It's like the Yelper generation, with a disturbing sense of entitlement. I would love to see those people try teaching a class about boudoir and see if they could do any better. It also seems like, the more popular a person gets, the more other people feel the need to tear them down. I'm grateful that Christa even offered this course at ALL. Thanks Christa for all you do to help those of us who really need to know this stuff. You rock.

I never thought I would shoot boudoir. I am a shy and private person. I started entertaining the idea when I first saw Christa's work and saw how beautiful and tasteful it can be. I love her lighting and all that she uses from historic painters and sculptors. I watched all three days live and learned a ton. I have a lot of lighting education, but it was nice to freshen up my skills. I loved the posing tips and the three typical situations she uses for one shoot. I loved learning about how she shoots in hotels and also using things like an outdoor situation. I have now shot my first boudoir session and it was a total hit. I am thrilled to show my client her images. This was fantastic! Thank you, Christa!
