I’m supposed to write a bio here. Yeah, it's weird for me too (be even weirder if it was written 3rd person). Anyway, here's the short version.
I’m an educator and business coach. Although honestly, that's just a fancy way of saying I'm a lifelong learner. I've spent most of my adult life building businesses, breaking them, rebuilding them, and turning the chaos into simple frameworks that actually work.
Over 15 years ago, my partners and I founded Lin + Jirsa Photography. What started as a small studio turned into a large creative team shooting over 350 high-end weddings per year. Today, we’ve worked with more than 8,000 clients and learned an unreasonable amount about branding, client service, systems, sales psychology, leadership, and what breaks when you scale the "unscalable."
Along the way I founded SLR Lounge, which somehow grew into one of the largest photography education platforms in the world (with a YouTube channel with 500,000+ subscribers). The goal has always been the same, take complex, intimidating topics and reduce them into clear, practical frameworks that photographers can actually apply.
More recently, I created the 10K/2K Business Mentorship. It's the gold standard in online business coaching for photographers. I'm of course a bit biased but I think our alumni would back the sentiment. Today we have over 400 active alumni, focused on helping photographers build sustainable, profitable businesses without relying on hustle culture, discounts, or vague motivation.
Speaking professionally. I spend most of my time teaching, coaching, writing, and refining frameworks around business, psychology, communication, and decision-making. I’m less interested in hacks and more interested in why things work, and how to make them stupid-simple enough to repeat consistently.
Speaking personally. I spend most of my free time chauffeuring around 4 crazy (but awesome) kids with my amazing wife. What little spare time I have goes to practicing old-man jiu jitsu (and more recently a bit of Arc Raiders). I know you're wondering. I suck at both. But they're fun anyway.
That’s probably more than a bio needs to be. If you’re looking for credentials, they’re buried in the paragraphs above. If you’re looking for clarity, that’s what I actually do for a living.
