Measuring Your Body
In order to pick our correct size for this pattern, we're going to need to do some body measurements so you want to grab your tape measure and we're going to do waist measurement hip measurement, and then I'm going to talk a little bit about the two lengths of the skirt to help you decide which one is right for you. The first thing we want to measure is our waste it's easy to find your waist, because when you've been to the side that's where you creek in at the side, there it's a squishy part a little bit above your navel about an inch above your navel, and what I'm going to do is take my tape measure and pull it right around my waist, and I'm gonna pull it quite tight, so I want to pull it so that I can just fit my finger and just like that, and that should give me thirty one inches for my waist to do my hip measurement on commercial patterns. The hip measurement is always nine inches down from your waist, so if you bend in again to find your waist, you can measure down nine inches an...
d I like to just put my film on that nine inches and then rotate my tape to pull it around my body. You want to make sure that your tape measure is pretty parallel. To the floor. So if I turn to the side, you can see that it's not dipping under dipping up and again. You want to pull it quite snugly around your body, and for me, that's going to be forty two inches for the length of this skirt. It's going to be easy to see where it hits you if you take the eighteen for the shorter skirt and put it right on your waist, and you can look in a mirror to see where that's going to fall on you on me, that would fall to just above my knee. And then the twenty two inch long skirt. I put my finger right on that twenty two and put that on my waist and that's, where my skirt would fall. I like a longer skirt myself.
