Which social media platform is best for getting clients
So which social media platform works best to get new clients. Well, this is a little bit of a tricky question and I'll explain why. So I personally have the opinion that social media is not the best way to get clients. And I'll explain why because when you are developing a presence on social media, think about why you actually use social media. How many times have you used social media to try and find a copywriter or a logo designer or a website developer? It just doesn't happen very often, right? And I'm not saying that it can never happen. It can certainly happen. And I've certainly got some business from social media, but it's just not my priority. The reason being is I want to be in places where people are actively looking for a solution like the likes of fiver and upwork. So that's where I invest my energy and obviously in my website as well, we get quite a lot of traffic from blog posts. For example, if I have to choose a platform for social media, it would depend on the type of ...
of service I was providing. So for example, if it's going to be written content, it's going to be something like medium, if it is logo design and website development, something very visual, it's going to be things like Instagram, Pinterest Tik Tok even. And I create some sort of captivating stories to get as much awareness as possible. And obviously, you would create portfolios on the likes of, you know, B Hans and dribble, you know, just to kind of name a few. But you have to understand actually what social media is actually doing in regard to your portfolio. And your brand, social media is a tool to generate awareness and to give a certain level of consideration. Remember the three step process to getting a converted customer awareness consideration and conversion those three steps, the first two at least can be pretty much completed within social media. You can get awareness, you can have them considered you as a potential option to provide the service that you provide and then they can essentially convert into a customer. Now, the thing about social media that I don't like as a tool to get clients is you invest so much time and energy into the actual social media platform and then you grow an audience of people that basically just love what you do. So it's basically other designers and other people that love you for the work that you do not potentially clients that are going to pay you. And then on top of all that, if you don't have a huge following. Then the likelihood of someone finding you who's looking for exactly what you can offer at the exact right time coming across you is it's quite unlikely, right? It's not very likely. This is ultimately a case of where do you want to place your eggs? Which basket I personally like placing mine in the basket of having a great website, driving awareness through the likes of upwork and fiber. In my humble opinion, we are starting to post on social media but not focusing around our work. I'm looking to draw my actual personal brand on social media as an educator and as someone who can actually teach others how the building agency just like I have over the past decade. So I don't know if that was the answer that you were looking for, but I just wanted to be completely brutally honest and just share my experience and my opinion so that you can make the best decision in regards to your time because I know that everyone feels like they need to be on social media and they have to be on Instagram and Pinterest and tiktok and all this stuff. Personally, I make extremely good money, more money than I could ever imagine from producing logos, websites, brand, naming and lots of other creative services. And I have never used social media actively to try and acquire a client ever. So if my experience is anything to go by, I don't think you need to either just putting it out there because it's a lot of time to grow an audience on social media for very little return. So anyway, that's just my opinion. Thank you so much for your time. I hope you enjoy this little quick lesson and I will see you in the next one.
