I have this blank layer, and I'm just gonna sample all layers. So, in the drop-down, sample all layers, so that no matter what I select, is gonna select all the layers that are below. And if I wanted to either remove or duplicate this car, morphers duplicate it, I can hold Alt, Option on the Mac, and click. You see how the brush becomes a target when I hold Alt? See that, becomes a target? So now I can select the sample source. So that means that now when I paint, you can see a preview there, I can start painting a duplicate of that car. And there it is. Pretty cool, right? What most people never use, and this is what I really think is the real power of the Clone Stamp tool, is the Clone Source window. So if you go into Window, and select Clone Source, you're gonna get this really cool dialogue, or menu rather, panel that gives you all these different options that you probably have never used before. On the top, we have five different sample sources. So have you ever been cloning somet...
hing, and you're cloning from one area, then you realize you need to sample from a different area, but then you need to go back to that original clone source area? Well, this is the solution to that. You can have up to five, so you can set a sample source for this one, then click on here, select the sample source, so you can have five different sample sources. So, my first sample source is of a car, so I'll do that again. There's the car, so I start painting the car. The second one could be of the bus, so I can start painting the bus. And I can just go back and forth, from sample source to sample source. So, that is a really really powerful technique. You get up to five, so you don't always have to go back and try to remember where you sampled from to go back into what you were painting. It's a really powerful tool. Also, we have scale, so if I... make this smaller, you can actually see a preview of how small the sample sources now become. So, when I start painting the car again, it's gonna be a small, and actually I'll do that again, because that didn't work. See how I changed it on this sample source, but then I clicked back so it went back to 100? That's why it didn't change. I clicked on this one, and it went back to 100. That's because, again, different sample sources. So you have to be careful. So I'm gonna reduce this one as well, and then I'm just gonna create a new layer and just paint on that new layer. See how much smaller the car is now? So you can scale your sample source. You might want to clone something, you may not want it as big, or maybe you want it bigger. Also, you can rotate it. So maybe, you want another car, and you want a smaller car. Let me make a selection here, sample source. Notice how it doesn't have the same angle? So now I can sample from something, scale it, and also rotate it at the same time. So you can start seeing how powerful that becomes, when you're trying to remove distracting elements from your photos. A lot of the time you have the perfect sample source, but you're like "oh I really can't do that", or what you may do is you make a copy of it, you may do something like this where... you may make a copy of it. Ctrl + J, Command + J on the Macs, makes a copy of that layer, and then you can probably move that over, and then rotate it and scale it, and do all these sorts of things to try to get that effect. But you could do it all from the sample source. And that can become faster if you're painting away some details on very complicated backgrounds. So that is something that I like to show people, because most people never think about using the Clone Source, and to me that's the real power of the Clone Stamp tool. Most people just use it by default, with the default settings. And you could also flip it horizontally and vertically, so if you click on these icons here, the sample source flips horizontally, this one flips vertically, so when I... select something to paint on, and I paint, now the car has flipped horizontally as well. You get all those different options. What's the quickest way to clear the sample source? Like, reset it back to... Right here. Yeah. Cool. And remember, the good stuff is hidden in the File menu.
