Lesson Info

Your Speaker Reel

the sexiest most popular item I see people request in building their personal brand is the speaker real. Now the key to a great speaker reel is not the video editor, it's not the camera you're using, it's not how fancy your setup is, but it's your ability to collect all the items that sit inside your topic wheel. Now we've talked about building your personal brand by interviewing other people by saying thank you by producing one minute videos by turning your cell phone into a documentary camera that follows you around. You don't have to be a Gary Vaynerchuk and constantly have someone like a D rock follow you around. But you do have to be collecting that video along the way. And what I found is that literally when you're using your cell phone and you're filming that carries higher weight. Those videos perform better than the professionally shot videos and all the people out there who want to challenge me, I'd say show me your data and I'll show you my data if you're collecting the item...

s along the way as part of your influence generation, as part of your monitoring and community management and you're sticking it in that super high piece of technology called a google drive or dropbox or wherever you're storing all these pieces of content as it collects along the way. You can take those assets and you can then post them as a gig to be completed on fiber or a virtual assistant that you hire from online jobs dot ph or someone, if you're bigger, you might have an in house team like people to do this professionally. Once you get bigger, you'll start to have teams of people, but initially just take those particular items and then they can turn that into a collage. They can turn that into a reel that reflects the items of your personal brand. Now, if you have a topic wheel and you've selected those six topics and you've built out the people that you're connected to, that that represent those particular topics. It's very easy for a video editor to be able to take those components and make a sizzle reel. There's two kinds of sizzle reels that you can make and you can go into our notes and see examples of those. So you can hire out those tasks. one is a speaker sizzle reel and that one's just lots of quick takes where there's not much audio, you can have a music track, but it's just be able to show like who you're with and ideally the size of the audience. If you're speaking in front of larger crowds, it could be smaller crowds or could be just you being interviewed by other people, you have to start with where you are, and that's just showing the range of relationships that you have. The other one, which is a Mission Real is reflecting what is valuable to you and that's when you have words that go across, that's when you have phrases, that's when you have many testimonials from other people that build you up, that reflect the things That you stand for. So the Sizzle Reel might be 30 seconds to a minute. Mission Real might be two or three minutes when you have that awesome speaker real, just like jeremy slate slate, just like Mark lack, just like heather Dobson, you can see all of their examples, you're gonna take that and you're gonna push it out there on facebook, on linkedin, you're gonna put on your website, you can put it on your medium, you put on your about dot me, you're going to put it in your brochures, you're gonna put it in all your different assets because that's how you're building the perceived authority. Remember when people have the perceived authority, when they believe that you're someone that's trustworthy, you can then monetize because once people have seen your speaker real, then when they hear about what you have to sell your products and services, they're more likely to buy. So if you're really smart about this, you're building a speaker real not because you just want to look good or you want to be famous. And if you want to speak and get and be on more stages and you want to publish your book and get more people to buy it and you just want to be better known in your industry, that's great too. But you have to figure out a way to monetize it. If you really want to build a strong personal brand and the speaker real is a great one. As the first touch, like the first way people find out about you to build authority. But that's just the outside of your topic. Well you have to move people from your why to your how to your what and the what is where you monetize. So you're going to set up your re marketing, you're gonna set up email sequences, you're going to set up your trip wires, all these other components that we're going to cover in our next section on how you can build your personal brand.
