Shoot: 11 Month Old Ezra

Okay, so I have a little bit of attachment to ezra because I've been shooting as we're sincere with a newborn here creative life um and as rise like ridiculously cute assigning any um so with ezra it's going to be all about him standing up about him sitting up he's going to be a fast mover right? So the best thing to do is you're gonna be to contain him somehow so I'm going to set him up on the couch to try to contain him but he's also live months old and I'm not sure exactly what his developmental stages that yet is yet so he might be perfectly capable of getting off that stool in running away so definitely something we're going to be we're going to be looking at but before he comes is there any questions about the the young age the four week age a compliment for belinda jones says belinda what a mom you just wiped his little face and discarded on your own clothes that was funny a quick question from a lot of people have been asking do you have or use any iphone lenses any of those on...

es you can kind of clip on or attached to it in some way way what's your favorite yeah the olio lenses there are pretty cool but honestly I've discovered over time that there really annoying to carry around which I hate to say because there's such a need tool but for me, the iphone is all about quick and dirty like I want a picture and I take it it's a total snapshot thing for me um the the lenses are great, but they have a hard time staying on like really well and sometimes they some of the lenses have like a sticky thing they're supposed to put in the back, which I don't really want to put a sticky thing on my phone and with the case and everything like they don't go on well with a case on your phone and I'm sorry but I am dropped my phone constantly kind of girl I'm lucky it hasn't broken um and so to me I want a case on my phone at all times and so having a lens clipped onto it with the cases challenging so there's pros and cons the lenders are fun and great and yeah, they definitely help in the situation we like when I mentioned earlier that wide angle using but sometimes a wide angle lens could be really fun especially with ezra's age because they exaggerate certain things about them which is what makes them so charming you know what do you remember me? Oh my god, look at his little curl can you get over this? Oh my gosh he's like lady leave me along believe here loan you're such a handsome man so ms, we're going to try to shoot mr answer lacey is telling me that he has a little separation anxiety which um as a mom it's ok, because you khun you're with your kid all the time you photograph from the problem but with me he might decide that you had a baby a baby oh yeah people and I'm gonna have you come on over to so that you don't have that mike it's for lacey okay awesome so we'll grab give that toe lacey and then mister you're gonna be okay with coming to me come here to eat in a good mood yeah you wanna play yes, he was not doing you want to play look there's a baby do you see the baby if you saying any word yet now is he's close to daddy because of that? Yeah it's he standing up yet? Yeah, well, not on his own just holding on holding on to walk around the front yeah walker in particular he get off furniture can he climb off? Oh, yeah well, if you put him on top you know he'll be able to climb yeah, ok, he might be a little runner he likes to dive and jump so no good you're doing a little boy, huh let's try getting you sitting down nice and closest happens high pena e o you got start tomorrow or did not voice makes you know you're going to do is she going to take a picture that exposure is you bring in you're just a ham I love it ha I just want to watch him for the most downers I just take a picture with my value even if it does work that way oh, way uh yeah isn't nice trouble with the iphone it's like it takes a long to compose a shot ok, so now you try a different angle and see what happens oh you're doing that's over exposed is it is and kind of seeing over exposure is just practice changing the exposure what I'm doing is I'm holding down a lock so I'm just pressing my finger down on the screen you see the a lock button come up time lapse on a one time lapse no thanks photo please you'll notice the photo lends a lot wider so I'm holding down a lock and then dragging my finger up and down to reduce the exposure you can see that sunshine slider there I'm just dragging it down to reduce ex soldier you are what he thinks should we try to stand up or let's uh oh you're so good that he's you know he's like well what's wobbly you just make sure looking eyes to wobbling giulio, wait okay I know we can stand here let's do that oh could you get a big boy and this is like milestone weimaraner I'm gonna have you up out of the way for me miller is wrong wait oh my gosh you're just a hand yes, you are you just a him watches, huh? Yes oh, first mode first rodeo ok, so when they start doing this than crawling obviously the light is not low and it's starting to get dark on him over to justice cute um and this light is starting to get dark on him so he's kind of out of the light right now which to me I go ok it's not such a good shot anymore it's like let's explore fun buttons to bush kids love buns but I think the basic message here is that it takes sometimes a lot of shots to get a decent one, especially with kids and an iphone because you don't have the power of speed with your dslr you could I mean, I'm I'm so in tuned my dslr that and it's so our economic like the dials, the shutter speed aperture I can change things on the fly and it's designed for fast shooting and the shutter speed is so great on a dslr which of course is an advantage to shooting a young child but with an iphone that burst mode is gonna be your best friend and sometimes it's just about timing setting things up, you see, it takes time to set things up a little bit more and then making sure the light is good. The reason we're getting decent images here, because this light is simulated daylight so well and it's, nice and directional on soft on his face. If we're using flash, yeah, I would capture and freeze the action. I wouldn't look at it off, okay?

I've just managed to watch this short class while my 18 month old had a nap. I have picked up so many useful tips, particularly on composition but also with how the iPhone camera functions. The suggested apps look fantastic - I would love to find a UK company a bit like booksto.me which will make Instagram pics into books - such an amazing idea. If you can spare an hour and want to pick up some great tips, this course is worth the money. I now feel I have more tools to hand to get the most out of photography on my phone.

I am in love with my DSLR and seldom use my phone camera for artistic shots. I watched this workshop only because it was part of Photoshop week. What a wonderful surprise when I not only picked up some great iPhone tips, but also a better understanding of what I had known vaguely and intuitively about composition power points. Way to go, Julia! Your class is totally worth the price of admission.
