Patting texture we're gonna go back to our please don't kill my vibe drawing and um, you know, try to add some texture to this to make it feel a little more overall cohesive since we've got a slightly different letter style between these letters in these hands, I think adding some texture or really tie these together so there's a number of ways you can add texture, there's some photoshopped filters that will do it for you. I don't really like using those because they're a little too uniform and don't really look as realist texture might look so what I've done is I've kind of collected some textures over the years you can find some dirty pieces of fabric are crumpled up paper or anything or shoot some photos of like a brick wall um I just keep them in a file called textures actually provided you guys with some textures um in the resource is files that you can try this on your own with the ones that I have, so I'm gonna start with this piece of burlesque that I have, um scanned in, so wh...
at we're gonna want to do is convert this teo teo grayscale so I wanna make this black and white and then I'm going to go ahead and adjust the levels because we want to make there is much black in contrast that's possible here someone a pool this black little air over to the right which will darken up the darks and then I'm gonna bring the white hair over which will kind of darken up whites so I'll show you how this is going to help us in a minute but we're trying to get as much uh contrast it's possible here so what I'm going to do is go ahead and select all of this I used command a or you can go to end its light off I'm gonna copy this and I'm gonna bring it over to our drawing um who don't pace this right on top so it's a little smaller we have the flexibility of bringing it up a little bit so there's a couple things you can do to add texture I think one of the best techniques are one of the ones that gives good results is to change your letter setting so I'm going to click on the layer where the texture is on and I want to change that to screen so what screen does is it lets everything show through the black areas in your texture. So now that we have it like that, we can go ahead and just our levels again to see if we can make this look a little more likely wanted to so I'm not sure this is exactly how I wanted to look another option that we can do to bring it back to normal and since this is mostly black we could try inverting it and then changing that later style from multiply what multiply does is it lets everything shine through the white area so it's kind of like the opposite of the screen so I think this is looking a little cooler um we're getting some of that texture and it's still keeping the black areas really dark I think it's a little tio straight up and down you can see some of the areas where the folds were so what I would do then is kind of rotate that around and we can move this around to get the texture you know where we want it to be so then we cannot if you want you could bring the capacity down and it would light enough that the texture was a little too rough for you wanted a little more subtle detail he could bring that down um I think the dark since we've got such a bold letters and bold shape I think the darkest pretty good I might bring it down just a little bit there's also some some brushes on this set that are pretty good with carrying some texture there actually called um adding noise so these air affects things so you can have one that will like add canvas so you can go in and they're pretty so so you wanna bumpier brush size out quite a bit so you can see it's pretty subtle but that's a good thing with you when you're doing texture um but also made more so you can see what we're dealing with here so this is adding a little bit of a a canvas texture to it um there's also the ad noise ones I think these ones are kind of fun to play with we choose the red teo match our lettering we can go in and kind of so you can see there really subtle but, you know and some of those on there it's definitely more subtle than what we did when we overlay the texture and multiplied it um for our purposes I'm going tio show you I'm gonna open up the other file that we're um ivan open up another file that has ah colors to it I'll try it on one of these actually, I'll try it on the state weird thing we just did since it has a yellow background just doing this as we have the lighter tones you can see how it works on the background which was getting hidden because of the, um because the black background. So if we put this on here it's really big here make it smaller so if we try the multiply on this um well we didn't you can see you can barely see anything so what that's doing is it's only letting the, um, the stuff shine through the white area was, or there isn't that much. So if we screen this can see it at some cool texture to it. I think it kind of interferes with the drippy. But I just want to show you how it looked like on a on a lighter background. So there's the basic ways for adding texture to your piece. Um, which can add a whole new dimension, and and also emphasized the hand drawn feel of the hand drawn lettering.
