Design for Social Media

in this video you will learn how to create a new document ready for screen. We will use illustrator to create a multi our board social media kit and then once the document is set up, I will show you how to save it as a template and use it over and over again. Click on create new to open a new document panel preparing your document for Web is very easy with illustrator. All you have to do is to set the intent for Web to let illustrator automatically adapt some basic settings for a screen production. As you can see, units will change into pixels color mode to RGB And the roster effect to 72 pp. These are the industry standard settings for a file for Web For this project. I will start by setting the document size to the resolution of an Instagram post which is 1080 but an 80 pixels. All you're left to do is to name the file. I will call my document social media template and then click or create to open the document. Yeah, once the document will open you will see your first our board to du...

plicate it, select the Arbor tool from the toolbar and then click on the art board and drag it to the side while holding the old key on Windows. That's options on a Mac to create a copy and repeat the same action one more time. Then reset the new are bored by selecting them with the Arbor tool active and press enter or return key from your keyboard to access each art board options panel to recite the our board we will use the most commonly use social media sizes. We have already an R. Word of the size of an instagram post for the second one. We will use the size of 10 pixels by 1920 pixels which is the size of an instagram story and also a tic tac post For the third. Our board we will set the size to 200 pixels by 630 pixels which is the size of an image link for Facebook and Twitter. You can also go back and access the arbor options window to name each our board appropriately. This will be very helpful when you're gonna export your files. If you would like to create more our boards for different social media assets, simply duplicate and recite the our board like we just did. If you would like to become familiar and use more social media sizes, you can refer to the social media cheat sheet provided in this lesson here. You can find many more details and all the updated sizes for facebook instagram, Youtube linkedin and many more social media images to save your file as a template. Use the shortcut control shift as on Windows. That's command shift as on a Mac. The save as dialog box will pop up from here, select your destination folder, name your file and set the safest type to the dot A I T type, which is the illustrator template file format. I find this file format very useful by sending your file as a template, you will be able to use it over and over again. In fact, every time that you launch a template file, it will open as a new untitled document ready for your creations. By doing so, you can add graphics and design inside your new file while preserving your original template, which will not be modified. Let's meet in the next lesson to create a consistent social media campaign for your online promotions.
