Why Peer Approval Matters
It's all about word of mouth referrals and stuff like that and on that note about sort of the presence you know why we're on that topic so yes I did you know, pay a lot of attention to it because a lot of times in being an authority of building a platform it's also about I remember you know you said it step out look at the brand and then design it and so what did I want that brand to be and it's not timid it's definitely a presence where people go like wow you know when I show up I want people to notice because that's what I do I sell a lifestyle remember I saw the live cell of what happens when you do what I do when you do something similar to that on how you come out on the other hand it has to look good it has to look impressive it has to look like it's worthwhile so if I can't portray that we're all in trouble because then I have nothing to sell so part of the you know and what andrea said and this is sort of how it kind of all works together when andrea said well like the people t...
hat all only have like one thing and they say you follow this one thing it's not like that and it's like funny because I just had said that there is you know, fifty things that bring that you bring in on different sides so if you were to take the speaking route there is speaker training have I done speaker training? Yes, so you know you I want to make sure that whatever it isthe that you do and how you explain certain things is that there is a part of a story telling because we are storytellers that come with it because it is just so much more engaging then somebody who just stands here and you know it doesn't really go anywhere and, you know, maybe sometimes it will flip penguin flip with it with the hands so you like that penguins or the or the nervous crispy hands where the knuckles get all white way ago ago while they're gonna break their fingers? Or how about the people at the income? So there are certain things you you want to watch yourself, especially going video and you are on video, the only way to survive watching yourself on video is if you step out and you look at the brand because otherwise you go, I can't believe I look like such an idiot or the way I talk of my voice is terrible, so you have to like that all of that go, but you have to look at the brain doesn't represent the brand it's a brand well well done, you know well explained while demonstrated so depending on what that is and that's what I did in the beginning, I did a lot of that, you know, kind of what you were, what you were talking about, I looked at it as a debt did not work or that it really works so part ofthe part of the authority platform is wherever you go you design both design what that is going to be for you because it's your brent, you can do whatever the heck you want there's no good or bet. And so when when thea other comment that you made earlier, kendall, where you said the creative life, you know, plug in page, he says, well, this is kind of interesting because she's doing it it's like a double whammy because on the one hand, I'm actually really giving away these free gift. On the other hand, I am doing lead generation, but I can talk about it because that's, what we're studying so this is, you know, this is this is I think the fun part for me in this particular class is that this is all real, you know? We're not just talking about it, this is really happening, I'm doing this, this is part of what I learn, and so if the lead generation is one thing that you want to do, then you're going to be then he will be learning more about how to put these together and if speaking is going to be one of the things you want to be, you know, good at then you're going to do a speaker training and, you know, I took a comedy class I told you, I want to be the funny german so these are all parts off what fits your brand and something she will try on and they don't work and some things you are going to excel at and you hold on to that that people respond very well to so for me against is just sort of sum this point up the tough love german engineered, slightly funny german works really well and in the class we did that with steph fun, where stefan wass a he's, a swiss photographer and he excels in impossible celebrity shoots like and so we came up with this fantastic brand for him where he is now the swiss neutral zone you know I'm going with this chin, so the more impossible, the more difficult, the more you know that the the small of the space, the bigger the time pressure get the swiss guy in because only the swiss guy can make it a neutral zone in no time and do his magic and get the job done right, and we were having so much fun with that and you know and that's when sort of the magic happens is when you allow yourself to be in this space without sort of judgment on what you want to come out at the end as long you know and you'll know when it's right for you okay enough in my little attention over here okay, so let's go back to peer approval warm and referrals so it is it that there is no such thing as bad pr the referral and word of mouth sort of goes by the concept that the grass is greener on the other side that we want what they have so if we are going to show people on how they are that we have something that's desirable for them which is why it's important that what you show us desirable if that looks good I guarantee you they want it and if you work with somebody and then they look good then all these other people that are out there what would they have? Because if it's working for them but they don't have the secret sauce they have to hire you so instead of this whole platform idea so here's how it goes I am the secret sauce I am telling you why you're needed I'm even telling you what you need sounds the sauce of course but I'm not giving you the how but how you have to pay for just how is the secret sauce everybody has to pay for the house so that's why in the boot camp that I do you go that's ah lee generation based on referrals right? So you go in the boot camp and you sign up for the seven seven day video boot camp and then it leads you to a place where says you can invite seven off you know invite three of your friends and then you get fifty bucks a photo base bucks not hard cash but you can apply them to a course of mine and we have about a third of everybody who goes to the boot camp referring three people so you use that to you know but in the boot camp so now you know again show you how this is all sort of engineered and works together in the boot camp. I don't tell you how at all I tell you what I tell you so much what that you had is smoking when you're done with seven days of five minutes because I am fast firing here's what you do here's what you need to do in any big blogging and you do youtube data that it up I tell you not a thing about how because at the end of that I want you to feel slightly overwhelmed I bring you to a place of discomfort of you why? Because I'm the solution take the photo was intensive and I will break it down for you. German engineered here we go again. Step by step by step. See? See how this sort of how these concepts all work together. So there's a fear of being left out off course, we have a sense of belonging. People want to belong to a good to the hip people. If somebody else has tried it and says something good about it, then it's risk free. Remember that? Awesome that that the movie everybody talks about the trailer looks really good before you go to the movie. Now way we go to what rotten tomato and thea other review sites. And we check what people are really saying about the movie and depending on what the reviews air saying, we make a decision based upon that. So if all of them say the movie sucks, we might not go see the movie where as if that wasn't the case, we may have gone and see the movie because the trailer was very convincing when we were watching the other movie. So it depends about the, you know, the whole peer approval word of mouth and referral is all about. If they are very happy, they will tell their friends, because I tell my friends. You know, we were this morning when we were in hair and makeup. What did the stylists do? They were talking about products, and they're like, oh my god, she got to do this. You gotta do that that's, a really great one. Oh, I must try that out, that it's, word of mouth, that's pierre approval. Oh, I've been using it for years. It works really, really, really well.

Beate Chelette delivered so much value with so much style and grace that it was a "no-brainer" decision on the 2nd day -- I needed to own "Grow Your Business as the Authority In Your Space"! This is material I can really go back to and mine for nuggets over and over -- PLUS, I can't wait to get a closer look at the workbook (and start trying out the exercises of course!). Beate's surprisingly broad expertise coupled with her polish and professionalism made each day's programming a true joy to watch. She is a wonderful role model for all of us nascent women entrepreneurs -- and obviously, men will find her lessons just as empowering. Thank you, CreativeLive and a special thank you to Beate Chelette!

I love this course and dip back into it frequently. I would highly recommend this course to entry-level and mid-career academics, particularly women. More courses please from Beate Chelette! Cheers, Amy
