Nice Drop Shadow & Inner Drop Shadow Effects In Figma

Hi, everyone in this video. We're gonna start looking at effect in fig A now. You probably likely let's just skip drop shadow. I'm gonna try and add a little bit because drop shadows. There you go, drop shadow and text. Very exciting kind of stands off from the image there. I'm gonna try to add a little bit more value. This one here has two drop shadows applied to it. We're gonna look at some inner shadow stuff with two of them on there for some interface stuff. So yeah, there's a little bit of extra value in here. So jump in with me, let's get started. OK? Uh Let's talk about drop shadows first. So anything selected fonts, buttons, rectangles frames, OK? And just down here the effects hit plus defaults to drop shadow and we have a drop shadow. Hey, what I find with drop shadows is uh you know, uh I guess I'm trying to add a little bit more than just like there's a drop shadow to adjust it. Click the little icon next to it. Can you get a bit more? OK, you can play around with obviously...

the transparency like how dark it is OK. I'm gonna go back now. I find these are good to be scrubbed rather than typed in. So watch this xy blur spread. You can just hover above them and can you see you can drag them around. OK. Often I don't know. A nice drop shadow looks good. Zero and a little bit of Y OK. And the blur, this is my opinion. I'm using the up and down arrow holding shift as well. Like just something subtle, not so subtle down just to kind of get it to stand off from the background. Now, don't be afraid you can add more than one drop shadow. Let's say that you have like a fill drop shadow which is kind of just a bit bigger and a bit more like, can you see that bit more waty? OK. I've got this one. I'm gonna get it to kind of stick down a bit further. I'm gonna lower the opacity. I'm using my down arrow. OK? So I'll have one that kind of like lifts it off in general from the background, but then a nice little sharp one on top. So you can add more than one cool to go into here. And this one, it's a duplicate of the original. So I'm actually gonna turn it down to, to blur. Get it down. Nice and small drag drag, drag, something like that. Crank it up a little bit. This bit will look good then uh they've been down to one. Now, the actual numbers here will change depending on the size of your objects. You know, if it's really big, you have to put more on. If it's really small, you put less on, but know that you can add more than one. So let's turn that on and off. What do you think I bought on? That's just on with it. That's the big waty one and this is just that little extra key light or a little extra thing around the outside. OK. Obviously, it's great for text. My text kind of stands off the background actually, let's switch it out. So let's go. You my friend background image say the exposure and the contrast isn't enough. OK? And you have to use it for the text. So the text you can do a double on that as well. Often I guess the effect you're looking for generally is that nobody notices, OK. If someone notices your drop shadow, you've gone too far, sharp, lower it down and lower that down. Now, one thing I didn't cover was the spread. Let's do it on something that's uh so I've got this, let's go to the blur right up. So the spread is how far like it starts. So it can, you know, it's still got a six blur which is this little bit, but it kind of starts way out here. OK. That's the spread. I don't often touch the spread. You can am I liking this more. I'm not, let's look at it. Uh the drop shadows kind of other cousin the inner shadow. Now you're like, now when the heck are you gonna use an inner shadow? Like you're from Photoshop Land, you're like, I never use inner shadow but when it gets to U I options, OK, you kind of saw at the beginning, I've given it away and I'm gonna crank that up to maximum. Maybe you can go as high as you like and it'll get round the corners is let me o on your keyboard for a circle, hold shift to get it to be perfect. Back to my selection tool, which is the NNNN Pacman for no reason. Let's go into picking my light color. OK? So this one here in a shadow plus, drop it down. You haven't got many, there's only two videos in this whole course about uh effects. OK? Inner shadow. There might be more in the future. OK? So I've got inner shadow. I'm gonna leave it as the default because it kind of works. I'm gonna add another one, change it to inner shadow. It's good for interface, things like this. OK? You can spend ages working on these that nobody's gonna notice, but I'll notice you'll notice. And what you also do is we've been kind of going left. Can you see I can drag it down and left? You can actually go negative watch this. If I drag it this way can you see instead of going, pushing from the right, it pushes from the left or the opposite of that? Ok. So I can do something like that just to kind of fill it in. Maybe this one here, I'll get it to go just a bit further that way, just a bit further, that way, make it look deeper with it slightly different blur and this 1 may be with a drop shadow, uh fix drop shadow. Do I like it? He needs to go like that? Two, two. OK. So you can work on. It's not great. It's too much in a shadow going on. OK. So, um you get the idea right? We're going to look at kind of new morphism in a separate video a little bit because it's quite popular and I get asked about it all the time, but in a shadow drop shadows know that you can add more than one they can apply to just about anything in here. All right, let's jump into the next video.
