Sides, Front, and Bottom of the Nikon D750

Let's, dive in and open up some of these port doors and what can we plug into the camera? The top one is thie accessory terminal and there's a lot of things that we compress in here. First off there is the nikon cable released this is an electronic cable release great for somebody working from a tripod who wants to do long exposures or somebody who just doesn't want to touch the camera for fear of moving the camera when it is actually firing and so a great accessory for anyone who owns this camera. One of the options you can get is a wireless transmitter. You can get the w r t ten and the w r r ten as a transmitter and a receiver. The are the w r r tenn is also a transceiver which means it's partly a transmitter and a receiver so you can have that trigger other devices as well. So you could potentially have one remote with two receivers triggering different cameras to fire at the exact same time. bout in other areas of this class. This system will work about twenty meters in length so it's not super far but it's a little bit further than the infrared systems. If you want to go much further, there is a more advanced deb you are one wireless transceiver, and this will get you into the hundred twenty meter range. So if you needed to fire a camera on the other side of the football field that's mounted in a particular location, you could get these to work in that scenario, and they all plug into that accessory terminal. You can also get the nikon gp one, eh? This is little vice and sells for about two hundred fifty bucks, and that will add a gps information to the metadata of your photographs. The transceiver portion of that is going to be about one hundred dollars. So it's, about one hundred sixty five for that kit of the two that you need. And then the remote court is relatively chief editor at on lee, around twenty five dollars. Next up, we have our headphone jack. So if you want to plug in standard headphones for monitoring sound when you're recording movies that's where you'll do it, then we have our microphone input. Nikon does make their own microphone the m e one, which sells for around one hundred thirty dollars. You can also hook up any generic mikes and there's, a lot of great ones out there from road site heizer, as well as many other manufacturers. And they will mount right on the hot shoe of the camera for easy placement. Then we have our hd, my port. If you want to show your images or your movies on an hd tv, you can plug in a hd cable right here and go straight to a tv or projector. Then we have a u s b port. If you do want to download straight from the camera, you could do that with this. This is one of the first cameras on the market to have us be three point. Oh, compliance. So it's gonna be a little bit faster. One of my complaints on pretty much every camera on the market is that it's really slow and downloading, and you might still be quicker pulling the cart out of the camera and downloading it directly into the computer. But at least if you do want to do it here, it's going to be faster than most other cameras available today. Flipping around over to the right hand side of the camera, we have the memory card. Uses the secure digital card in here you can actually use to cards in here if you want what you want to be looking at when you buy memory cards. First off is the size of the card we have hc and xy, which are just larger size sd cards the camera is fully compliant with for the still photographer you want to take a look at the maximum speed. This is a rating, which will determine how fast your camera can store quickly. Your camera can store information to the car now it is partly dependent on how fast the camera is, and so just buying a faster card won't necessarily speed things up. But if it's very slow to write to the card images, that is, then a faster card might solve some of those problems. If you shoot video, what you might want to be looking at is thie speed classifications. This is a rating of the minimum or constant speed of writing that your camera could do if you're shooting video it's a lot of content that is constantly streaming, needing to be stored under the memory card, and so the minimum speed should be a little bit faster, usually a class ten, which is ten megabytes per second or faster card, another little. Way to rate the cards is by their bus speed this is you hs one complaint it doesn't work with the hs two cards you can stick him in and they'll still work it just won't read and write as fast lius some new devices that will be coming out in the future using that second row of pins that you can see on the u h s two cards in the setup menu you can go through and format your memory cards what this does is it deletes all the images and all the data including the file directory and the little ghost folders that get left behind as you delete old pictures on your memory card it's something that professional photographers do on a regular basis before they go out on a new suit just to clear off any old clutter that might be on that old card. We also have the option in the custom menu to lock our cameras from firing the shutter if we don't have a memory card in the camera and so this kind of prevents us from taking pictures without any memory of the camera so I recommend turning this on and locking this in most cases and we'll get to this when we go through the menu later in this class for downloading as I mentioned before, downloading straight from the camera could be a little bit slow so what I recommend is using the car greater which doesn't sell for much money twenty thirty, forty bucks at most or if your computer has an actual slot in it that's even better you can just plug your cards straight into your computer and that is really a great quick way of downloading your images down on the bottom of the camera. We have a standard tripod socket. It's got a quarter twenty quarter inch wide, twenty turns to the inch so you could hook up all your standard tripod accessory equipment. Your serial number record that for insurance purposes, the battery compartment takes the standard ian neal fifteen thankfully, nikon has not changed the battery in quite some time, so batteries from other cameras of similar style will work in here sells for about sixty bucks good for about a thousand shots or so and you can check your battery life in the setup menu. Great place that tells you exactly how good that battery is in its current state and its overall life as well. There is going to be a little grip connector where you could hook up a vertical m b d sixteen for shooting vertically very comfortably. If you shoot a lot of sporting events, if you do a lot of people photography, the vertical grip is just really nice and he just put your hands in a more comfortable, steady position for shooting, which is just a zeiss a very comfortable also good for people with just large hands that's going to come with an m s d fourteen double battery holder if you want to power your camera by double a's because you don't have access to a charged charging system you could do that with double a's it doesn't last re along for the double hey batteries that are in there but it is an emergency source of battery power which can be nice to have in some tricky situations the camera comes with the standard charger the image twenty five there are extra external charges that you can get for instance, if you needed constant power supply, you're going to do a really long time lapse you're working in the studio you're working in a technical environment where you need to power the camera you don't need to worry about replacing batteries there's a e p five b and an e h five b which you're going to sell for fifty and eighty dollars respectively that you would need to combine together to power the camera consistently and you'll notice over on the side of your camera is a little bit of a door flap that allows you to put in this kind of fake battery with the cable that runs out of it that will supply your camera with a constant stream of power so that it never needs to be charged over on the front of the camera we have our auto focus assist light I had mentioned just previously about the red eye reduction of this camera house the way it does this is it turns that light on and it shines the light in your subjects face for a couple of seconds and then you take a picture and I don't like that because it delays the shutter released by a couple of seconds and you often miss timing of the shot and so I think it's much better just to fix red eye later on and get the shot when you can it's also something that comes on under very low light conditions it will do this if it's having problems focusing and it's basically shining out a little light like a weak powered flashlight and it could be a little distracting in some cases in which is why I'll recommend turning that off because it doesn't really help in many situations and so this could be turned off if you go into the custom menu under a nine the sub command I'll we've talked about that before our depth of field preview this was marking the movie indices or index marks for the movie but under normal picture shooting conditions it is the depth of field preview but now this used to be a professional feature on cameras that when you press down on the button allowed you to see how much depth of field the lens was having at its working aperture play that again for you, so you can see it's stopping down the lens on the left and you can see the additional depth of field on the right, and it was a great way to preview how much depth of field you were going to get in a picture now with digital cameras. In many cases, I'll just shoot a photo, and then I'll look at it on the back of the camera to see how much depth of field I'm getting. But in some cases, the depth of field preview is nice because when it's really bright out, it's hard to see the image on the back of the camera, and that will be the best way to see what that preview is. If you don't use this and you would like to read program the button, you can do that in custom menu f three, you can re program the preview button to do one of about nineteen other different functions, depending on what you find most important, the function button is very much like the preview button in that you can re program it to do one of many other different features in the camera, but this one is no default setting right now, it's just you get to choose whatever you want to do there, you'll see those functions when you go into the custom menu under f, too. The camera has a built in stereo mike's, which is slightly better than mono mike's, but if you do want to get good sound for recording movies, I highly recommend an external mic. Getting the mic outside of the device. That's, actually recording in focusing and moving around in your hands is going to improve sound quality quite a bit. There is a meter couple in level, and this is something that's going to hook up on older lenses safe from the early nineteen seventies of the late nineteen sixties, and this is going to help those older manual lenses set their exposure with the cameras monitoring system. It basically lets the camera no what's, the maximum aperture on that particular lands. For the early autofocus days, nikon used a drive shaft that extended from the body into the lands and basically spun the foes, focusing system with it. And so, if you have an older, focusing auto focusing lens safe from the nineties, then it's going to use this f drive shaft. The modern cameras don't use either of these systems. They use a cpu or elektronik focusing system and that's, how it is going to match up with the modern lenses. So there's a wide gamut of lenses that this camera can hook up with the lens release for. Mounting the camera and a mounting it you wantto mount and keep aware of the lens. Mount mark that's. Just where you line up the lens on the body for correct alignment, there is an infrared receiver. So if you do want to use that little twenty dollars ml l three remote it's, a wireless infrared remote, which has a very limited distance, usually of about three to ten meters, depending on the lighting conditions. And there is a receiver module on the back of the camera, as well as the front of camera. So you can either get pictures of yourself or fire the camera from a tripod, for instance.
