Shipping Q&A
Do we have any questions? We do have questions. Have a lot of great questions that have come in from the online audience. Um, let's start with this one. So I'll just read it to you. So have adjusted my pricing to absorb some shipping costs so that my shipping fees are listed a bit lower than my actual cost. Do you think that's a good idea? Or would you recommend free shipping and then just increase the product costs and set instant? So, um okay, I'm just gonna give you my opinion. Um, I really think that the shipping should be additional. You should price your work according to your your time. Your costs in all of that stuff. Have that be a set number. And then when you're we're gonna go over the shipping thing, uh, the shipping stuff in the second segment. But you can look up How much is going to cost to go to different regions, and you can break them up that way. As a shopper, I like to know that the shipping is additional. I don't want to guess at how much I'm paying to get somethin...
g, you know, into my hands. Um the free shipping idea. It's, I don't know. It was free shipping. It might. It might sway some customers. If you know if your customer likes that kind of thing, you can experiment with it. But it's not necessarily always better toe offer free anything. Really, What's what's best is free to represent your goods at the at the right price so that there's no question that, you know, this is what I'm getting, and as the person who's buying it, I'm going to pay to get it to me. Okay, so, yeah, it's a little bit. Do have a question. Yeah, yeah, because you were saying something about the postcard one and how it's just pictures. But then it has, like, a words to explain. So is there a time when you would see a Shops banner that you're not in the shop like, Would you see the banner sometime but not be in the shop? I have never seen them. It's like when you're in the shot. When you see them, they don't show up anywhere else. I think so. I don't think I've ever experienced just finding a banner randomly, because, I mean, when you upload pictures toe, etc. They put their own file name onto it to go within their system. So even if you upload a file with he words in it, it's their kid. Those keywords aren't gonna transfer. So you wouldn't necessarily find like, in a Google image search somebody's banner showing, like featuring shops or something. They don't ever have a thing where they're destroying the banner. Um, I was kind of wondering about it. Yeah, not free. Not very often. Are you thinking about having a banner? Yeah. I think about making a banner having a banner made. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. I mean, getting help is definitely the easier way to do it without stressing yourself about what it's really gonna look like in graphic design. But it's good to know your friends. Yeah, through this one. Got votes. How much inventory do you build before you open a shop? So a lot of people have some anxiety around like, Oh, my gosh. I'm gonna open the shop up, and then I'm gonna get 1000. Orders. Can only make two of these things, you know, a week. Yeah. Yeah, That's if that happens to you. Can you combo me I want Teoh. How did you do? That s so let me tell you right now on the ETS on your Etsy shop page, you have 24 listing pictures that show up on your front page. Now again, that can change at any time. So, you know, don't rely on all of the things that are happening today. But if you want your shop toe look full having that at least your first page full of listings is a really good idea. It also gives your customer sort of an overview of your style and your branding when you have all of the listings together. But, you know, the reality is is to have a Nazi shop and to and to be an Etsy seller, you only have to have one listing. So start with that, trying not to stress yourself out about. You know, I'm gonna have to make thousands of these, you know, just make them work on listing them, practice, practice, practice and eventually you're gonna have a full shop full of stuff. So, you know, it's just one step at a time, and we have a question kind of pertaining to that about digital downloads So when you sell digital downloads, how do you manage your inventory? I sell clip art for scrapbooking, and I put 100 in the quantity. But I'm not sure. Will this spike my etc feeds? No, no, it actually doesn't You pay for the listing the first time that you put it on there. And then you're quantity. You don't pay for any of that 100 until somebody actually buys it so or until until your listing expires. Two things you're listening expires after four months, and then they renew it for 20 cents. If somebody buys something, they by two, then you already paid for your 1st 20 cents, and then you get charged another 20 cents for the 2nd 1 that you sold of the exact same thing. Eso and it all happens automatically. You don't have to do anything to make it happen. So it's really a great system for digital. I mean, really, really good. Yeah,

This is an an amazing class. It is great for beginners as well as those who have had their shop up for while. There is something new to learn for everyone on Etsy. Marlo's powerpoints are concise and clear. I was so glad to also get the ebooks so I can go back and review the course while I make changes to my store. I am able to bookmark and work through all the changes. Thanks for this course, Marlo and CreativeLive.
