Shoot: Ethereal Part 2

I'm gonna try something a little different we'll be a little make it a little more I don't know creepy or something it's on second assault on going there and try to put this over your face okay take some porch it's like this these will be a little more weird says more amanda's ah wait hope the spread so okay thanks. Okay, I'm so I don't want to wreck your hair but should be okay we're gonna throw us over her this is just stuff I like to experiment and fool around when I'm shooting so see how this is gonna look that's good he'd have to do the whole thing I just wanted to open it up so that it would get kind of spread out honor of it okay in there I want it pulling on your hair too much so for this I'm just going to do a lot more portrait's just going to make it like or dreamy and not really type of things so yeah, yeah and tilt your head a little bit and just let me see it's just flattening your hair here but oops. Okay, okay. All right, all right, so I'm going to do some yeah, same thi...

ng playing with your hands you can kind of like tilt your head up so that the cloth is sort of pressed against you little bit we'll just yeah that's nice let's turn this way more so I see the flowers kind of yeah that's pretty that's really pretty I like it let's go face straight on at me here well you're doing things like this just be careful where this streaks of cloth are going if you experiment with this kind of thing because you don't want it going down the middle over I because then it's just annoying trying to edit it older he won't even be able to use the photo yeah and just kind of I don't know even hiding part of your face and yeah yeah that's nice maybe even one I just sort of like yeah chin up a bit good nice a little bit off too much nice I'll turn sideways actually do that again for a couple of those that's pretty yeah, even just one were mary like touching him up nice can I get you to go sideways to me again? Yeah it's flattening the hair it's driving me crazy I don't know why if I could get it not okay kitten stuff all over me now uh that's pretty that's pretty well yeah, I got it it's good to someone want to like whisper tool for me let's try couples maybe just sort of uh maybe throw it up and then I'll catch it as it's falling yeah back there too a couple of me like with your chin close your eyes what to do with right this way you can let it come up and then it was forward yeah still little so count to three okay all three also and issues as it falls and then you just see like in your balls ok because we'll do it a few times okay one two three school wide her here changes no school or yeah I want to get a little wider okay so for things like this I won't do it with this the shots but I would probably take pieces of the tool out and um complicit in and make it look like really dreamy all around her after but I might do it and it like that I'm doing the photo shops okay ready one you can get closer actually and you kind of throw it up yeah okay one two three I only caught a piece of it look pretty though you threw like at her what okay let to drive one two three like it school see how this one comes more in front of her you jealous okay actually let must let's change your poles a little bit you can kind of are I don't know do what you want you're good so yeah that's ridic a one two three yeah like these so we're just playing around this is just my typical way of doing things all right couple more and we're good with that ok let me see hold on k one two three tried to get in their toys yeah, okay, one more and I'm going to get you look right into me right into the camera like intensely yeah let's go kalen two three like that one that was a good was my favorite, I think yeah, I like those pretty okay. Okay. Let's, take that off your head now it's a slot in your poor hair I gotta fix this makeup doesn't kill me good and let's play with this, you know? Look, we'll use this little bit. Do you have any questions for me? How do you feel about that? About that secretary session? Did you get what you wanted? Oh, yeah. I got what I wanted more more than enough of what I wanted. So she did really well, I would like her a lot. It's a good model. Good, good. So she's left a whole trail of roses behind, but yeah, that's awesome, actually. Speaking of which, I want to remind everybody we did mention a little bit earlier but the backdrop lots of people of backdrop, lovely flowers and the board. So everybody just to let you know that was actually made by our set designer of choice she had made it from polly board basically just used the board and then took a fake moss and put it on, stapled it on there on dh then, but silk flowers and just poke to them into the board basically so that it s so that they would stay those flowers she got online. She got them from e favor mart and silk flowers factory. So if you go into the chat room, we can give you those links again. That's e favor marked and silk flowers factory very inexpensive. I was saying that they had, like, two hundred fifty two orange roses for seventeen dollars it's extremely affordable. They have other other presidents. Well, so yet not an expensive backdrop to build yourself and really easy to do so. Let's, ask some questions here if you guys have any feel free to jump in let's start, though, with one from eric steal that I really liked. Yes. How do unexpected interruptions like the one with the tether or when you're on the field affect the flow of your shoot? Is this something that you find easy to recover from his wells, the models? Do you feel like you need to get people into a rhythm on how do you do? So do you use music on your sets? Do you use? Can you talk a little bit about the mood on yourself? Okay, well, yeah, listen, what? Well, I play music a lot and it's a lot of really you know, funky music I play a lot of hip hop stuff against people really hyper so you're usually they're good with that if there are interruptions during the shoot I do take a few minutes to like, get back into it it takes me a a little while especially when there's things like that happening like if I'm in the middle of shooting starts pouring and then we need to like get out of there and do something else that it takes me a bit too like get my thoughts together so after a while though, we get back into the groove and we're good so you know what after the tether thing it was fine we just kept going and it wasn't there was no big changes right? It was just the same scene same dress everything yeah it's fantastic any other any questions from here in the room would you guys think of that great watching you work but I have a question yeah, so getting the flats every time my service like really expensive to have one no ship do you have any ideas to help if you want to do more natural light like when the lightning to get okay the flat um there is this okay, so there's this material you can go to oh my goodness, I can't remember the store but I paid like seven bucks for half of this and they cut two of these out for me that oh it's a sign it was a sign warehouse and it's called foam core and the same thing so if you go look up some local sign companies with that uh produce that kind of thing that that some works for that and then what was the other part of it just what was it he said to be shipping it in her I know just how to get that it was just getting to me it was explain I checked around local camera shops whatever it was it's very expensive it's the same thing so you can find alternate ways to like get stuff like that and not spend a lot on it yeah I got a question here from via rela about touching models and we get that a lot about you how much is appropriate to move them when they're in their pose fix things on dh then also just because I know that there are a lot of dudes out there who are thinking the same thing is there any difference between a male photographer touching a model versus a female? Yes oh yeah so with the guys I think they I mean there's a little difference like I I always like to tell the girls I'm going to I'm like well with her her hair was all flat I'm like I got to fix your hair it's what this flower came out after I'm just verbal about what I'm doing, but I think with males they should just take that extra caution and just say do you mind? I just need to fix your hair or do you mind like or can you do it like just make sure that the girls are comfortable models? You know what that's their occupation and they have to deal with that every day and people are constantly manhandling them anyways but just showing them that respect, I think making sure that they're okay first are pointing it out what you're going to dio then they're usually good love it all right, it looks like our model is coming back out s o we will be ready in a second and again just to repeat for those of you who may have missed it when I said it before the silk flowers come from e favor mart that's e favor martin and then the silk flower factory silk flowers factory dot com so and the dress is from dream shoot rentals, which is a dream shoot rentals dot com it's actually run by lindsay adler who's been here on creative live a lot and she's a wonderful person s o check them out for all of that I think we're ready come on okay, just give me one sec. I just need to pull this if you want I just want to pull the blanket towards because now we don't have the dress to hide this so I just need to pull this so it's touching the wall it sort of does not do we talked but yeah it's cute it's pretty here there's a hair in your eye to its need that cold like right inside the thanks okay okay okay, good. Thank you won't use us again so now I'm using the same wall and this yeah, this dress is a completely different color and you can see it doesn't really even go with this wall so I will end up in post production diluting the colors of these flowers so that they sued it a little bit better it's going to push this it's holding up it's good all right. And so, um we went through choices flowers yesterday and we made this little okay, so let's see how this looks but everything you have to hold it this way so this is the opening top part of it we'll see how that looks this dress is from fury couture so well, we'll have there is a lincoln there for her too, but get started with this. All right, so can you come out a little bit further um from that wall yeah, so now with this look it's still soft and so romantic but it's not a cz you know extreme is that gown waas so for her for now we're going you can you can play up on the poles and even if you want a little bit more doesn't all have to be oh uh could be more of just like I don't know a little more edginess to it but not to not to like fashion for just a little bit more contrast hold on here yep that's good on let me see the back bo you know we can shoot some of that um instead of the hand on there maybe maybe have both hands holding the flowers and this kind of yeah that's pretty good that's pretty let's turn yeah do that sideways kulak silas because you like that see, now you're like way taller than me here so no that's fine I gotta move around too much for that um turn and face me you know what do you want take those shoes off actually we could do barefoot yeah, okay, yeah, I was just too barefoot and could be like gather all these guys up throw it back on their heels like left a trail of roses as you left they're all like coming out of the dress it was funny yeah just kind of that's pretty I'm going to get her to sit down on that again teo even lay down like maybe we could do some of those just get the white behind you so now I'm going to try to do some full body and her feet are showing so now I have to pay attention to the feet okay because they were hiding before it didn't matter but now with your feet we need a lot of you know graceful just kind of like you know you could even kind of go on your tolls if you want I just I just felt like the shoes weren't going with it too much so um you could even you want to just chuck those flowers out of your hand too we won't even hold those yet yes leave it alone and turn and face me I just very like soft and and you can kind of just keep moving and doing your thing that I hope yeah I like that and instead of the leg outward will kind of put bring it inward so I like yeah pulled in a little bit more good yeah yep and straight on me chin down buddy do that again and like instead of tilting head back to speak very sideways good that looks good um we deal with this I went is it okay if can I get totally down like it's not goingto take e I feel like this dress doesn't I don't know I just rather I think if I have her laying down on look looking up at me might look pretty with the white instead of the flour wall yeah so let's just move these so you're not getting stabbed in the back with it and just need toe go go more down like get more into the center of tiny yeah where's that tool sorry I'm going to take it back I'm going to use it under her head and I kind of wrap it around on top but we'll spread it around so I'm just gonna okay lean back that's pretty kind of fix us a little bit yeah there we go so just put your head down let's see if it's squishing anything it's good yeah that's pretty okay so I'm just putting flowers all around her she's gonna be sleeping beauty now go to sleep my child and put some in your fingers can you tilt your head up towards me sorry over your eye rolls don't want it there alright sucks okay get started it's pretty do you want to do you want to kind of push your chest up a tiny bit and sort of bring your head up a little more towards me that's nice close your eyes that's pretty help like it you see them okay do you want to turn your head sideways like a little bit? Yeah, but is it on the ground like relax your head, make sure you're just yeah uh know turn your head sideways but not soul sideways yeah, a little bit yeah, yeah um we'll move that hand to like move your hand somewhere else or they're not in the same place all time uh leaving it like this because when they're going out of the frame do you want to put them over onto your chest oh yeah that's pretty good yeah see I like this better than this with the felt fit it's too creamy and so it's kind of clashing with that nice way have the reflector um we'll use that because I'm kind of blocking her light um I think I'm just getting I don't know how we can do it but yeah right there yeah that's perfect so just kind of like um maybe even move around a little bit instead of just slow movement and I'll try to get some snaps while you're doing that yeah that's pretty good that's another thing to do when you guys are stocked with getting the model to polls is getting them to move like they're being filmed um because it helps his well good get pieces of well done here chuy rose so I'm gonna put the rose in front of the lens I just stick stuff in front of it sometimes to create that little magical effect see if that turns out yeah good, good really showing when I come around the side so we'll keep doing that at the way you're doing it it's good you're a nice pretty you did good don't try to move back you could keep doing what I I'm gonna move back and I'm gonna try to get a little more of a body in there but not the feet, sol, just good that's pretty. See what it looks like. Got any questions for me? I'm sure we can come up with questions. Uh, richard reid is wondering whether you take into consideration the height difference with your model. Does that affect how you shoot? Because you're not the tallest person in the world? Models tend to be taller. What do you know what you do normally at my height? I'm at the right height because you don't want to shoot them from head on, right? Shoot a little lower when she was in those heels. Well, for one, I didn't like it with the outfit and when she got them off, which she was the same height is before it worked out well. Otherwise I'll get a little stepper if I have to, like if they're just way too tall and they have to wear the shoes for something, I'll have to stand on a little block or something if it's not needed, but hey up, sorry guy keeps a riding ellner kick a couple more, a couple more of these that's pretty good, nice doing good, I'm going to give you these flowers I don't know if it's going to suit or not because of the purple now that I see it maybe we could hide the purple um so see this it's all tape so we can try toe just don't know hide it with your hand and let it kind of no I don't like it sorry caroline I can't it's just I don't know the color is weird it's off all right do you wantto let's let's just how much okay, we got a few minutes all right let's sum sit up on dh we won't lay down now I'm going to let you sit but I'm going to get you to um go back into the center a little more help and uh can I do here yeah I'm just looking at the background again but yeah I just play around aiken angel fires anyways um no that's okay now I guess but spread out there good that's pretty okay so I'm just going to shoot down at her again for a couple more portrait your hand is has disappeared so I will get you to bring it out I just don't want to hide it yeah good hopes keep your opponents court not used to that can you lean a little four to you but your hands are kind of like looking like really uncomfortable sze your arms I mean so just even kind of straight and just leaning in towards me good you're here yeah that's pretty look up towards the tv like you were what's nice what do you want to sit right out and face straight on at me and I was going to get youto actually so legs closed knees up and hugging your legs and you kind of like you can cross your feet like this and pull him out like pull your feet out more and then keep her ankles like together kind of thing yeah that's perfect do so levels just kind of have this around you so obviously I'm a fan of tool I use it all the time I love it. Okay, yeah that's really pretty yeah that's it you were yunis in a little more just kind of yeah, there you go look back to the tv again every time you look that way trying to get a shot good that's pretty nice on the knees a little bit more yeah, good and let's play with your hands a little bit again so yeah, you can kind of just yeah that's pretty omar look at me chinna piano just eyes on me. Sorry I need yeah, I'm going to do I need the reflector again the way you were holding it before it's a little bit dark because I'm hovering right over her and I'm covering your light but I want to kind of shoot it's like so just the way you're doing it just to get the filling her were there trying to find the light I know sorry it's weird what is it coming from? We don't they're uh they're okay right there you see a little bit of light good yeah that's pretty it's good to change can I am can I get you to bring your hands in because I'm cutting one of your arms out just a little bit weird nice that's pretty let's do some eyes closed again had tilted I'm so sad I lost all my flowers nice really pretty okay good couple folks sweet caroline magpie sweden were both wondering what's the purpose of the white blake it and hiding the floor and then did you put her on the floor just because of the background or is it the pose as well? Um yes because of the okay so the purpose of the white blanket is because this is only a wall and when I wanted to do full body I had to cover the floor because I don't want the wooden floor in there I just didn't like it some people might like it but it was just my preference it's on the texture and the blanket I think it adds to the whole feel of it the reason she laid on the floor was because with this second outfit I didn't like the color mix I didn't like that the creams are going to seize flowers so plus the blanket is pretty and so I got some different angles that way he was the blanket that way and when I shoot I'm like that it's very round it's not exactly all planned to the tee so well I like it and I like and I think other people out there also really liked being able to see that process and see that you had some shit some shots that you went for it and then we're just let's just try some stuff and see what happens right even also that you you tried some stuff and then abandoned it when you saw it wasn't working you didn't try and force everything is that kind of the normal process for you is just try it and see and if it doesn't work if I don't like it I don't like it I'm not going to try to push it say no this is not good let's try something else excellent question from fashion tv from singapore when you play something in front of a lens, what do you like about that compared to creating that kind of hazy effect in pokes you both and so in your opinion are their effects that are better off applied during postproduction? What what will make you choose one or the other doing it practically in camera or versus imposed? Because I don't think of it all the time like I was like, hey, oh, yeah, let me put a flower when I do it impulses because I'm like, let me out this let's see what it looks like? Yeah, that's a I do both and not just flowers, I'll put leaves and I'll put tool and I'll put I don't do it often, but yeah, usually it's either or it works both ways. It looks the same, really, either way, so yeah, on dh then question from the coal rene often do you incorporate movement into the chute, whether it's throwing the fabric like before or having the model move and capture that movement? Um, it's. Okay, so for this, like, I just wanted to throw it in there, but when I'm doing conceptual, shoot and it's some, you know what I want the fabric thrown it. A lot of it is all about the move moment until I get the shots that I need, and then we're kind of done with that for today was just experimenting and just adding random things to the chute, so it just really depends. I don't know. It's it's. It just depends. It's not always the same thing, so

Amanda diaz has given me inspiration and purpose. I wake up everyday inspired to create a beautiful image, atleast enough to hold your "aww" for a few seconds. I can relate to Amanda on so many levels as I also found myself in photography and never planned for it. Just like Amanda, I also started from scratch with nobody to help or assist me. If I had found this tutorial a few years ago, it would have speeded up the process of learning. Even today I call myself a professional photographer, this course still had a lot to offer me. I can blab on and on about how much I love and support Amanda diaz, however I will make it short and sweet by saying three simple words, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" www.snipershotsphotography.com https://www.facebook.com/danssnipershots

This was the best creative and most prolific 3 days of a tutorial. Amanda covered the entire spectrum of what every photographer who's trying to become better and bigger go through. I loved the part where she spoke about how to shoot in any lighting situation outdoors and a few indoors. She not only spoke about them, she went into full detail to help the novice or advanced level photog. Despite the tethering issues CL had with Lightroom, Amanda poetically commanded every day of her 3 days. Another point is that she did everything "her way", and not the traditional textbook style of teaching and editing. One prolific point is that NONE of the previous CL instructors touched the issue of drama, unwanted criticisms, or unprofessional things that happen in the industry, however with a brilliant stroke of quiet humility, and courage, Amanda did. I believe it helped everyone realize that no matter what level of photography you're on that it happens and you have to oftentimes "bite your tongue", or "turn the other cheek". It also pointed out that as photographers we should be doing everything to help one another to build our industry, vice tear it down by hurting one another because of the mindset of "competition". Amanda Diaz, and CL I salute and thank you dearly! Semper Fi! Mike www.mikeconphoto.com www.facebook.com/mikeconphotography
