Sunstars

has everybody doing Welcome to creative lives. Creative photography challenge. Today we're here to talk about how to do son stars. Sun stars are a great way to include the sun in the photo without having it overwhelmed the entire scene. For this challenge, you're gonna need a camera, a wide angle lens and a tripod is optional. Unfortunately, this is one of those challenges where the quality relents can actually make a difference. Seymour Blades that your lens has the more points on the sun star you're actually going to see. But that shouldn't discourage you. If all you have is kit lens, you're gonna do just fine. It's good idea to position it so that the sun is peeking behind one of your main subject elements. This could be buildings, trees, friend of yours. Anything will really work. Ideally, you'd want the sun lower on the horizon. So it's really best to play in the shot early morning or late afternoon. Early evening. So the key, the shot is your aperture. Like I said So really, I'm ...

shooting in aperture priority mode and I'm set my apertures at F 22. Now my eyes so is I'm gonna bump it up pretty high to 3200 so that my shutter speed is fast enough. Or I can take the shot handheld and not have any kind of problems you could without the tripod and handle it without shutter speeding being a problem. But for today, going handheld, I'm gonna try the shot Two different ways. One shot with single exposure and the other shot I'm gonna bracket with three different exposures. The reason I'm doing this is because the cameras light meter is gonna immediately trying. Evaluate for the sun, which is gonna make everything else very under exposed. So bracketing will help me capture the under exposed elements in the frame. If you don't know how to do bracketing on your camera, that's okay. I don't want you to worry about for this challenge. John. Gringo does have a great class on creative like all the fundamentals of photography, and in it he goes into great detail explaining how it works and why you should use it.
