Right and Bottom Sides of the Camera
Over on the right side of the camera we don't have too much going on there's a little card door that if you're going to have the camera hooked up in a studio under constant power will be ah little door that opens for the cord that comes out of the battery compartment the memory card that's the big thing over here on this side of the cameras is where we stick our sd memory cards that uses all the sd and xy type cards out there one of things you want to do is once you buy a memory card and you first get it into your camera you want to reform at the memory card that clears off all the data directory and files that are on the card so that you have a nice clean communication between the camera and the car there's a number of different things to look for in the memory card first and obvious most obvious is the size of the card and with this you can as I said use the sd the sth see the s t x c which are just different sizes of cards available out on the market today this can handle all the co...
mmon sizes for the still photographer who shoots a lot of sports action and shoots a lot of photos the maximum speed has some importance this has to do with how fast the camera will right information to the memory card and how fast when you put that memory card into a computer how fast it can pull information off of it for the average user of this camera this does not matter much at all pretty much anything is going to be acceptable but if you were shooting a lot of sports you might look at something on the faster into the spectrum. The next number is important for those of you shooting video because you want to have a camera or you won't have a card that has atleast class six or higher in its speed rating and this is how fast the camera can shoot video or how fast they can store data from video shot and so video is very intensive because it's constantly shooting lots and lots of information and so having one of the faster cards would be recommended I have to admit that there's a little confusing because they had these speed classes that went two four six eight and you want to have six or greater and then they ran out of numbers at ten because there's no more numbers than ten so they started back at one and three so these u h s are higher speed ratings than the standard speed class and so one or three is great ten eight six were all great I would avoid the twos and fours but you're not going to find them currently on the market they're pretty much gone at this point a better way of getting your information from your camera onto your computer. The camera is very slow. The processing system in the transfer system in this camera is very slow. So the better system that most serious photographers have is a little card reader. They sell anywhere from ten to thirty dollars, and it's, a much faster system for getting the information into your computer. Some computers actually have a card slot that fit this, which is very, very convenient, so that you can just plug it in directly. And those are going to be much faster than plugging your camera. All right let's look towards the bottom of the camera we have your serial number which you can of course record for insurance purposes we have the in mark this camera has a touch sensors so that if you get one of the nfc devices like a phone right up next to the camera you khun transfer between the camera and your phone without going into any sort of menu settings which is something that we'll talk about later is howto wirelessly transfer but you could do that with the near field option that is in some phones and other tablet type devices the camera has a standard quarter twenty tripod socket so it's going to fit with all the standard tripods and accessories that you might hook up in that department the battery compartment uses thie l p e seventeen which is supplied with the camera it's going to take about two hours to charge you're going to get about five hundred shots with it about half that if you do a lot of live you shooting or movie shooting is obviously going to use up more power because it's got that back screen in its recording on all the time so that can drain the battery much more quickly highly recommend always carrying an extra battery wherever you go the camera comes with the standard travel charger the l c e seventeen optional pieces that you could get for it for power there is a d c coupler if you were trying to give the camera ah, constant power source, so that you didn't need to go through batteries, you do need to be plugged into the wall. The easiest system for that is to buy the entire a o c k e eighteen package on this. This is a c adapter, so you can plug one into the wall, the other end into the camera. And you can have constant power. This would be more for a studio or perhaps a scientific lab. Type. Use of this camera where you needed to have constant power, not replacing batteries. The other option that you can get that works on the bottom of the camera is the b g e eighteen battery grip this is great for people who shoot a lot of verticals and so portrait photography sports photography is where you often shoot a lot of verticals and it's just going to be more comfortable to keep that cameron the vertical position with this vertical grip now the vertical grip you can use either one or two batteries so that you can the need for switching batteries is less common but it also just gives you extra buttons and every extra grips brace it also makes your camera look a little bit more professional in some ways a cz well and so very good for many different reasons a question from a user who says this person has the t six s and says my camera always says nine nine nine for the memory card why is that right let's take a look on my camera guess what my camera says is nine nine nine and that's because kanan was too cheap to put another number in there to show us how many pictures are actually left on that memory card so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to go into this memory card and well we could do this I'll do this way that what I've taught you is thie quick control go into raw and we're all plus j peg is going to use up the most amount of data possible, and I'm still getting nine, nine, nine, and the reason I'm getting nine nine nine is because I didn't anticipate this question. Is I stuck in a sixty four gigabyte card, which is a huge memory card in this camera. Normally, as you shoot pictures, it will count down the number of photos that you have left, but that is the number of photos you have left on the total memory card. It's an estimate. Great, thank you. So another question from iowa mom, who asked, can you use a wall to camera power cord from an earlier rebel, or must you buy this specific kit? I think that you will be able to use the earlier kord. How early can you go? I don't recall in turn the power off, because they have not changed door here down here. They haven't changed the battery in several cycles. A camera. So as long as the battery is the same, then it's going to be the same. And so if the device fits in the slot on the bottom of the camera, let's to this. And so, if, if it fits in the slot and there's going to be an adapter, that looks kind of like a battery. And as long as it fits in smoothly without any problem, then you're going to be fine. And that little door there's. A little door right off to the side here. Can hard to see. Yeah, it is likely to work.
