CC 2019 Update - Selective Color Adjustments
Here's an update for how we can color correct or color grade in adobe after effects, CC 2019 or any newer versions since CC 2018 we've had the loo metric color effects similar to an adobe premiere pro, how you have the lumia tree panel for color correction. We can apply this effect which you can find in the effects and presets panel to any clip. Now we don't have the full panel here in after effects but if we drop down the curves, you will notice that there is a new set of features under a huge saturation curves. So before we had the main RgB curb which was a way to add contrast to your image or to specific colors. I'm going to undo that but now we have a specific way of editing colors. Uh we could kind of do this before but it's laid out differently. So now we have this color bar right here and say we start with this top one hue versus saturation. So what we're going to do is basically be picking select colors and affecting the saturation of them. So we can go here and take the eyedro...
pper and then find a color in our image. Say we want two de saturate the green, we can select the green and you can see that it selects the green on this graph. It has three points. So if you take the one in the middle, we can move that up or down and that d saturates or saturates that green. Now we can expand this range by clicking and dragging these outer points to the left and to the right to select more or less color, let's undo that. We can also do this custom. So if we want to take that red for example and de saturate the red, we're gonna put put a point there, we'll put a point there as well. And then the way this works is kind of loops and so we're gonna drop down that red there. And if you drag this over to the left or the right, you can kind of see the graph in one part if you want to see all the red and now we can decide saturate that red. So I'm going to undo that. But really quick, I will go back and select the green and de saturate it just a little bit. We want that red to pop. Now if we move down we have hue versus hue. For for this we're going to be affecting the hue or the color of a color. So say we want to select the red and change the flowers to a different color. We can select the red and then take this point in the middle and drag up or down. So maybe we want more of like a pink color. Okay, so that's how you can quickly change a specific color in your image now, similarly to what we've seen in the past, we're going to move down to hubris Louima and this is going to be the brightness or the exposure of a specific color. So say we think that pink is a little bit too overexposed that part of this image. Let's take our color picker, click the flower, which selects sort of the original red. I'm gonna increase this range and decrease the loom a of this flower just like so, so as you can see, this is a pretty funky example, but I just wanted to show you the new ways that you can play with color right within the loop metric color panel, a great way for focusing on selective colors and adjusting them.
